My immediate response was a despondent "that's fifty".
When they showed the replay, Toovey did not actually touch the ball, but hit Corey's arms unnecessarily and Corey was smart enough to make the most of it. I think we're asking too much, frankly, for umpires to be able to see things in real time that we need slow-mo to recognise though, so I certainly wouldn't complain about that 50m penalty being paid. Toovey needs to wise up.
I love it when other teams get so defensive about collingwood, it means we are playing well! Facts are that we outplayed Geelong tonight and more than deserved to win. The win doesnt mean that we are guaranteed the flag or anything stupid like that but what it does do is give the players belief that they can beat Geelong (and likewise St Kilda) and that confidence is handy coming into the finals.

to me its the game the pies needed to win to have the confidence they can beat the best in the business. geelong also needed to have a loss at some stage, and from that the hunger will come back. its what both sides needed, and if there is a rematch during september its very mouth watering.
imho the pies have got some real worries up forward, when its in clokes hands you dont know where in a 50 metre raidis its going to go, throw in like everyone is saying finals pressure and it could get ugly. its something they really need to work on.

Great win, good to see us stand up when it looked like Geelong could run away with it.
Also who cares if us supporters are cocky? That is the point of being a supporter, to take the good with the bad.
I'm living it up and telling anyone who will listen how good we are, but that doesn't take anything away from Geelong/Saints/Dogs/Others. Their supporters should think the same about their club as they are also good teams.

But they are a massive chance... dreaming doesn't come into it.
Collingwood are on top of the ladder and will surely finish in the top 2, which makes them at least as good a chance as anyone else...

Took the momentum twice off Geelong, which is a rarity.
Yeah, got to be happy with the fact that we didnt get dictated to by Geelong, turned the game around when we were 12 points down, luckily got a few shocking decisions which could have cemented Geelongs momentum. But geelong had plenty of time to regain their momentum, but when we got a sniff, we ramped up the defensive pressure on the ball carrier. Absorbed all the last qtr pressure and in fact finished up looking like we were dominating and about the blow the score out.
In the end, probably should have been a 6 to 8 goal win given the scoring shots and general amount of ball in the forward 50.

Apart from the second half of the second quarter, Collingwood were the better team tonight. Geelong weren't bad at all and that part of the second I mentioned showed us how good they can be. In the past that would've been it for the Pies, but they showed they could regroup and deal with it, by coming out and winning the second half by keeping up the pressure. Collingwood are the real deal and this win proves it, if you doubt them as a premiership threat you are dillusional. But its in know way in the bag obviously. But us Pies supporters have a good reason to be happy right now, whether you want to call that cocky or not is up to you, but we're not going to stop because the haters don't like it.

truth is, no-one knows how this season will pan out but if Collingwood have peaked with an ave age of 24 yrs, then the bunch of old shaggers with an ave age of 27+ at kardinia park have peaked and are on the decline as well.
