Get the blinkers off. When Selwood gets grabbed by the jumper he ducks his head into the arm to draw a free kick. He should be penalised for not disposing of the ball. He exploits a rule that makes him appear to be "hard" when it's actually a soft act. It's staging for a free instead of making the first move of disposing of the ball. It's no different to Murali being allowed to chuck. Cheat.
And his agenda is?Brereton has an agenda and his opinion is meaningless.
I prefer the view of Matthews, Blight etc. - Selwood earns his frees via his fearless, ruthless attack on the ball.
Splinters from all those straws you are clutching at?If Cats were to play off against Pies in the GF, lets remember that the past 8 premiers have been beaten in their last H&A encounter by the team they defeated to win the premiership. Saints def Geelong in R14 last year. Cats def Hawks in their last H&A, 2008, and Port def Cats R21, 2007.

This is a common reactionary response. "Tackle him properly, and it's not an issue". However, that's not really the issue. The issue isn't the tackle, it's the actions of Selwood in response to the tackle. The tackle is perfectly legal, until Selwood drops his shoulder. I'd like to see how good a player he really is, without using this tactic. How good would he be, should those 6 free kicks he got on Sat night have been paid against him for holding the ball, as they should be.Or have the coach get it through the players thick skulls to tackle him at the waist... there, problem solved. Those tears still salty?
Or just don't tackle him.Alternatively, when Selwood evades the initial tackling attempt, don't grab/pull back on his shoulder... Or beat him to the ball?
His brother does the same thing, and gets the same level of free kicks for it.So Selwood conceived his evasive tacking ability style purposely in order to win free kicks??? C'mon. I don't think you truly believe that.![]()

You need to read the entire post. When they play in Sept and lose, it's usually because they're playing a much better side. This year, they are the much better side, so don't expect their performance in Sept this year be anything like their past Sept performance.
If he had the ability you think he has, then there'd be no need for this cheating in the first place.Yeah and Selwood gets 6 frees every week.. Theres no rule against shrugging shoulders, its an evasive maneuver.. The issue is the tackle because its high.. Either way if its paid a free or not he shrugs the tackle and usually gets a handball off to a teammate anyway.. For you to question his ability is ludicrous..

Hehe, where were you last year Ron?
I don't think anyone actually believes that if their side loses the previous game to the side they're playing in the Grand Final they're a shoe in to win.
It's just a meaningless stat that has absolutely no bearing on anything.
Collingwood were great. I can't help but feel the Cats didn't regard this game the same way the Pies did.
Great appetizer for what might be ahead on the final day.
Collingwood seem to beat geelong when its not cutthroat final.. amazing
One thing is for sure now! It's reached the stage where if Geelong don't win the flag, there will be a hell of a lot of dissapointed supporters out there..![]()

Crush him to an inch of his life and say " I am sorry you slipped the tackle'So its a grand final, your name is the Anvil and a player on the other side likes to duck into the oncoming player for a free kick?
What do you do?
Smash his head off his shoulders?
Smash his shoulders off his head?
It was a great win by collingwood. They played at their absolute peak all night while Geelong barely got out of second.
I'm more than confident we will bring our A game to the finals stage.
Or the fact that this season has been almost exactly the same as last season? Only that the saints last year come off a better season than the pies this season, add into that our big finals experience and ca-ching. we are confident.Geelong supporters are carrying on like it's gospel. They are pretty much hanging their premiership hopes on that stat alone.

It's a good thing for the pies that no 2 seasons are the same.Or the fact that this season has been almost exactly the same as last season?
If only it were that simple.Only that the saints last year come off a better season than the pies this season, add into that our big finals experience and ca-ching. we are confident.
