AA is just media driven rot.

For me it became meaningless when Nic Nat was named as the starting ruck with Cox in the forward pocket.

Its just complete rubbish.
Yes mate that was extraordinary - all the more so to non-Eagles supporting West Australians. (Fortunately there are a good few of us.)

The media adulation with Nic Nat over here is totally over the top. Don't get me wrong, he's a terrific young bloke - modest, respectful, gives his time to charities, helping young kids, etc. But overrated as a footballer IMHO and didn't deserve to get an AA guernsey at all, let alone as first ruck.

Dean Cox on the other hand has been a genuine great of the modern game and in a way redefined ruck play - ie would not only win hitouts (and actually palm the ball, not just "knock" it) and take grabs, but in effect become another ruckrover after ball-ups.

This plays to my point.

How can he be the best ruck in the league if he's not the best ruck in his side?

Just media guff.

There can be only one...
I was a bit disappointed in his game, he didn't use his strength advantage very well and his tap work lacked a bit of direction at times.

His leaping had Goldy pretty well stifled for 3 quarters. Goldy didn't seem to get on top until the last when he had out of his 15 HO to advantage, and 18 of his 49 hitouts.
As mentioned in another thread, it was pissing me off seeing the umpires bouncing it constantly at an angle that saw it barely land in the circle on Goldy's head. That allowed Ryder a running leap with Goldy impotent. Two less dicks will do that to you I guess.

Incredible player. My favourite currently. My one and only knock on him was the pack busting, contested marking I wanted to see that wasn't there. But it's there tenfold now.

Well done big boy
