Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Don't agree with this at all. Why get rid of a player of a generation because he potentially won't be around in time for a hypothetical premiership tilt?
Because he won't get on the ground for enough games & our whole game plan will have to revolve around what he used to be when at peak.
Time to move on. Bring him on for pre game & half time trick shots at goal. That's apparently what attracts a crowd nowadays because crowds are lower when they know he isn't playing.

You've got to be joking right? There is no way Buddy should ever play NEAFL after a soft tissue injury at the Swans. If he is passed fit by medical staff then he plays seniors without a doubt.

You don't buy a Ferrari only to leave it in the garage as a backup car. You drive the damn thing!!!
I wouldn't be driving it to work every day!

A couple of Coleman's since arriving in Sydney suggests the Ferrari and coach work just fine.

Oh the coach gets credit for goals?

Just not the poor skills of players?

My reply was to your comment that Swans coach can't drive the Ferrari.

Yes, players not coaches ultimately are responsible for goals kicked as the ball comes off their boot and goes between the big sticks.

Given Franklin has achieved just as many Coleman's at Sydney as he did at Hawthorn it suggests that John Longmire also knows how to use a gameplan that works with the Ferrari rather than being stuck on an auto licence as you propose.

Get him to 300 & pull the pin.
Won't be part of our next p'ship tilt.
Get him to do pre game & half time goal kicking tricks to get bums on seats if that's what we want & in the coaches box during games as forward coach.
He's played 9 games this season & won't add many to that, was brilliant last season but injured all year & will be lucky to play another 20 games in the next 3 years.
Make the hard call!

Slaughtered by own docs for two years since game one last year.meanwhile continue to enjoy your unique Tedeski narrative.

Whether or not this is the correct call, we’ll know by next year.

Clarko got 2 flags out him

His hammy is still tender and sore there is no point playing him this season, we made a good decision with Sinclair to send him for surgery and rule him out for 2019 do the same to Buddy.

I think they want the 300 game marketing so pushing for him to come back

He shouldn’t play in 2019 again

The prospect of Bud going through a full pre-season (even like 80% of a pre-season, he probably wouldn't do 100% of sessions at his age) is really exciting. It highlights just how remarkable a player he is that he has barely ever done a pre-season of any note and yet still dominates the league.
