Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005
DRAFT: #5, 2004 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Dowerin (WA)/Perth (WAFL)/Hawthorn

I would *not* play (perhaps ever) at Optus Stadium given the problems of the ground and Lance being injured in 2018 round 1.

Was doing nothing but jogging in a straight line at this mornings rehab session. No laps like the others and a little bit of short kicking.Looked to be another couple of weeks away at least.
Of thats the case might aswell pull the pin now...get any and all surgerys out the way before the home and away season ends and not put it off until pre season starts like we normally do

,

I suspect the bloke is the footy equivalent of the Black Knight He will always put his hand up to play as he just loves playing. (I can see Him playing Super Rules into his 50s.

If the storiea are true about his inability to train and the injuries he plays through, hel be lucky to walk when its all said and done

The last time he was fit was possibly in Round 1 last year.

Short kicking for him is around 45m.

The week buddy is " fit" snd available for selection, id play him in the neafl for a half. Get him through that and it would be a nice little warm up for his groin and hammys before being chucked back in at afl level

You've got to be joking right? There is no way Buddy should ever play NEAFL after a soft tissue injury at the Swans. If he is passed fit by medical staff then he plays seniors without a doubt.

You don't buy a Ferrari only to leave it in the garage as a backup car. You drive the damn thing!!!

How'd that precautionary approach work out for McVeigh on the weekend?

If it's a risk of happening (injury) as players age then it can happen regardless of what grade you are playing at.

If Buddy had been out for a year with a broken bone or something then perhaps ease him back by 2's, however for a soft tissue that misses a few weeks he should come straight back into seniors once fit and medically cleared to play.

Get him to 300 & pull the pin.
Won't be part of our next p'ship tilt.
Get him to do pre game & half time goal kicking tricks to get bums on seats if that's what we want & in the coaches box during games as forward coach.
He's played 9 games this season & won't add many to that, was brilliant last season but injured all year & will be lucky to play another 20 games in the next 3 years.
Make the hard call!

Don't agree with this at all. Why get rid of a player of a generation because he potentially won't be around in time for a hypothetical premiership tilt?
