Shaw who previously played 173 games for Collingwood and was one of its best players in its 2010 premiership side. Was picked up by the Giants during the 2013 trade period to add much need experience to the young Giants side.

GIANTS Coach Leon Cameron said it was a coup for the GIANTS.

"A number of other clubs were chasing Heath so for him to say he wants to join the GIANTS is a great endorsement of the club and the direction we are taking," Cameron said.

"Heath is exactly the sort of player we are looking for. He is a quality player who has enjoyed premiership success and will provide tremendous leadership for our young playing group."

The 27-year-old running defender played 173 games for Collingwood over nine seasons, including the 2010 Premiership.

“We think Heath’s experience along with Shane Mumford and other players we are pursuing will compliment our playing list and help us achieve on field success and set us up for an exciting future," Cameron said.

Couldn't see this mentioned anywhere on the main board so Congrats Heath Shaw on 200 games. Always remembered as a Pies player for that Grand final smoother that will live in the memories of Pies supporters for their life time. Also the time he got done for fighting, betting, crashing cars, brain fades and all that other crazy s**t.

Well done Heater and good luck at GWS

The press conference Giants veteran Heath Shaw gave ahead of Saturday's milestone match against the Brisbane Lions epitomised everything he's become as an AFL player during his 249-game career.

It was befitting of the larrikin reputation he's forged off the field, and the cheeky behaviour he's constantly displayed on it for the past 13 seasons, with Collingwood initially and now at GWS.

"I'd like to talk you through a few stats of mine," Shaw began as he unfurled a pre-prepared A4 sheet of paper.

"You look at the numbers and the game revolves a lot around stats these days. I thought I'd look myself up on Google and see how good my stats were.

"There's a few in there that are good and a few that are not so good."
