Unlucky for Weiters, but if you look at the stats there's nothing between them. I can only say they got over the line due to making finals.

I can understand the Blues fans feeling a bit miffed but Weitering is young enough to make plenty of AA teams. To be honest I thought that he and Moore could both have been in the team because Andrews effectively missed four matches and got towelled up by Hawkins and Tom Lynch. I don't know why he had to be an automatic selection which everyone seemed to think he was.

Ryan would be my 1st choice small forward, an absolute gun.

No issue with ryan came home like a train.
Danger Bont half towards ?
Moore who plays more like a flanker whilst Roughead takes the big boys.
Weitering was stiff I had him the no 1 defender.
Andrews missed games and got smashed by Lynch.

Andrews and Moore had very good seasons. Better than Weiters? WTF would I know.

I don't watch enough non-carlton matches these days to be critical of the final AA side.

I do know that Weiterbot had an outstanding year, nullifying key forwards almost every single week.

HHe'll make plenty of AA teams over his career. Just be thankful he is as awesome as he is and the awards will look after themselves.

I dont watch enough games these days to know who was AA or not. But i have watched a lot of football over my life, especially when i was 15-30. I can tell what an AA quality season is like and Weitering had one. Was he better than Moore and Andrews, i dont know but there couldnt be much in it. The fact Andrews misses 3.5 games during the year tells me Weitering should have his spot. I cant see how anyone can be that much better than Weitering that they miss 18% of the season and still get in ahead of him.

Could be the strangest AA team I’ve seen in a long while, no idea how they constructed it.

Weiters unlucky but Andrews, Moore and also Blicavs from the 40 man squad all had gun years too so well done to them. Next year son, when we start making the 8 you’ll be a lock!!!

The biggest WTF’s for me were reserved for the omissions of Maynard and Gunston...plus no wingmen (Menegola, McLugg, Walsh the top 3) no small fwd (Ryan for me is a bit of everything), 5 flanker/small DEF, 2 ruckmen (in a year where no-one really excelled) and the plethora of inside mids.

2020 just keeps delivering weird sh*t.

Would have thought if the selectors went on the SEASON not so much reputation, could easily have gone Moore and Weitering, with a “hey, Andrews, you’re a gun and try not to get injured next time”.

But really for this role I think there were three guys, two spots, Weiters stiff but not screwed.

Ryan should have been in for sure. Huge year.

BTW I’m actually really glad they picked Adams, Petracca and some others who I really think DID have the best seasons in their position vs some more established “usual suspects”.

Selecting the 2020 All Australian team is a very difficult task, made harder by selecting players in positions they didn’t play. HFF and Wing roles are specialist positions they’ve failed to recognise. It’s not an opinion on a player, it’s on the position. Disappointing.

Reckon these were the players most ripped off for AA: Maynard, Butler, Goldstein, and Pendlebury. Weitering is really stiff also. Papley had a pretty quiet second half of the season which cost him.

Doesn't diminish the quality of a player

Why wasn’t Buddy considered, then? Best forward in a long time.:p

Because it’s about this season only - the 2020 “body of work”. Andrews might have been the best but he did it for games less than the other options. Could easily have gone the other way.

Congratulations to Jacob Weitering!

Brilliant stuff Weiters. In elite company. Not usually a key defender's award either so this is really one for the books.

Well bloody deserved.

He's quickly become one of the most underrated gun defenders in the comp.

Congrats Jacob.
