Lots can happen and probably will, but the CFC may have a dilemma as to who to appoint captain in a few years time.
Nothing to consider now but all being well, it's going to be a tough decision with him and Cripps ready to go.
For what it's worth from the limited exposure I've had to Weitering and Cripps thus far, I think Jacob is ahead. He just commands respect.

That may be the dilemma. Good dilemma to have but at this early stage, I tend to agree.
Reckon Weitering may be somewhat more intimidating but hopefully not a Rockliff type of intimidating.

Anyway, we're at least 18 months away form having this discussion in earnest.

I don't think you have to be boisterous to get your message across.

Weitering commands attention that's very unusual for an 18 year old........and a bottom age 18 year old at that.
I had heard differently in that he was quiet, and just took that to mean introverted. Not really bothered if he can retain the sort of output he is delivering at the moment.

Agree. He doesn't carry on. It's about how he carries himself.

He knows he's good enough and should be out there. No moment in a game daunts him (I know it's only game 2 for him). It's what I would want to see from my captain. Would make me want to stand tall.

I don't think it's a problem. Hawthorn have a raft of these type of players. I hope our recruiting team can keep picking them.

I suspect Weitering might to be much of an introvert to be captain. Suspect our next captain will either be Cripps or Docherty.
No. He's not an introvert at all.
He's not loud but he does convey authority.
I think it is fair to say he is vocal on the field with his teammates & as evidenced by his interaction with Jack Riewoldt, is also prepared to chat the opposition. He seems to have the qualities of a very good leader, but I think he will be skipper in waiting, as Cripps will get the nod after Murphy.

**** the way he is directing traffic, if this bolton chap doesn't work out he could be playing coach. he's knowledgeable and confident and giving a bit of stick. and he's going to get better! like him a lot

He did actually raise Buddy on 360 last night that he plays for frees.

Yes I heard that, but to put a full page spread in his rag with a picture of Boekhorst who has played less than 20 games is crass when he could have put a picture of Goddard, Franklin or Thomas

Jacob is a very shy fellow.....I hope he grows out of it one day :)

Weitering will be played forward at times and no better times than this year, already.
Bolton wouldn't have done it on Sunday had it not been in consideration well before the event.

It will be a tough choice in choosing between Weits & Cripps. Ultimately Cripps being 3 years older and having done more hard yards for the club is in pole position. If they were around the same age I would say it ends up being who is worth more to us.

The key is to have potential captains on every line and it's great to see us fostering genuine leadership density for the first time since forever... but the one for me is Docherty.

Courageous, articulate, bleeds blue, demands respect and more importantly will be ready to take the role before the others. As much as Murph has grown as skipper he's really just a placeholder. The sooner he can hand over to the next gen, the better it will be for all involved.

All of a sudden we got 'lucky' and have some seriously good young leaders at our club and not just good leaders that plod their way through a game, but leaders that can take charge of a game and lead by example as well as by dialogue.

Cripps, Weitering and Docherty are certainties and then we have Graham, Kerridge and my smokey.....Ciaran Byrne.

Hate to say it but Cripps seems to be a very poor speaker.
And that has to play a part in the decision. Not just media and coteries etc, but also within the group. Communication is part of leadership.
Weits on the other hand has it in spades.

Weits is more impressive than I expected. I know it is early, but right now I think he is the most impressive no.1 pick, and most impressive young KPP since Riewoldt. He just does it all. Kicking, nous, backing up team mates, polish, 1 %ers, marking, you name it he does it all. He is like a 28 year old out there he is that composed. We need to get more elite talent around him, and Cripps, asap.
