Anyone know if state league or state association will be following the AFL's lead and have a 23rd man for the teams this coming season?

the qafl had a 23rd man last year. the afl will be having 3 normal bench players that are allowed to be interchanged when ever they like. the 4th one is their to be used as just a perminant sub. if you use him, the player that came off for him cant come back on. there won't be 5 on the bench in the afl like we had in the qafl last season

The 23rd player was brought in to be similar to the VFL rule which allowed a TAC cup player (under 18) to get some ground time in senior football, the QAFL mistakenly allowed this player to be a Suns player as well regardless of age, so certain clubs used this to load the side up with depth rather than development as the rule was intended. My understanding is the rule will remain but with stricter under 18 guidelines for all clubs.

So the 23rd player will remain but will have to be an under 18 player only.

Footnote:Sorry I forgot the AFLQ pathway makes its own rules so the player could be older if it is decided the player needs the media exposure for drafting as he hasn't played very much football.
