It's the Global Draft - so non-Canadian or US players only; a third of the picks in the draft were punters or kickers.

Makes a lot more sense.

If he was 25 he would probably be a better chance of playing NFL, but long term walking away with a degree from USC and a few seasons of CFL will probably set him up better

Per a Chargers fan site:

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco said at his pre-draft press conference that the team would carry more than just JK Scott in training camp among their punting options. It appears Telesco is looking to set forth a position battle and in doing so, they brought in an imposing punter for rookie minicamp.

Ben Griffiths, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound punter was a tall drink of water getting work in with the specialist. He's a unique player given his background which includes having spent eight years for the Richmond Tigers, a team in the Australian Football League.

Following his eight seasons, playing 63 games professionally in Australia, Griffiths enrolled at USC where he spent the last three years. He and Scott will presumably duel it out for the punting job in training camp.

Given the salary difference would likely be between 10-20x, it would be huge if he could win the job.

Its crazy just looked it up, cfl salary cap last season was 5.3 mil base is 60k which is what most punters would get.

Nfl punter salaries for last season ranged between 700k and 3.6mil. So even at the low end you ballin'

This JK Scott fella was on a one season deal worth 965k

The 3.6mil is another aussie Michael Dickson whos contract is worth 14.6mil over 4 years
