At least Levi wont be able to trot out the old " I left to play in a premiership " line, it was purely a business decision
"It's believed the Magpies have offered Greenwood a four-year deal worth $1.8 million."

Good luck to the man I say. We have the depth to replace him now, and we can develop a new kid.

Has Dumont shown enough at lower level to indicate he can replace Greenwood in the coming years? Could be the club believes Dumont can be the extra inside md if we need him.
Either way Collingwood should give up pick 5 for Greenwood. Beams is a better player and that is why Collingwood is asking Pick 5 plus a decent player. We are simply asking pick 5.

There can be only one...
We got to go hard for pick 5 now, and give ourselves a chance of drafting top end talent.

Greenwood, tarrant, pick 16 to pies
Norths 2nd pick, Beams to brisbane
Pick 5 and brisbanes 2nd pick to north
??????
Nobody is going to give us shit for Tarrant, he almost retired this year.

It is better to target a Collingwood player who is a need for us.

I think people are expecting Collingwood to fall away they have more stock pile of 1st round players than North do waiting to come in.
Going to Collingwood is not a backward step for Levi injuries culled them this year. They would be on the same level as North l would think.
People are dreaming if they think a preliminary final finish is where the list is really at, for mine we would be the 5th-6th best team with an upwood trend trying to stay ahead of 4 other clubs at best.

Two years ago was Brad's favorite, had a BOG 39 posse Round 22 against the Dees and then fallen off the cliff. Still can't quite see where it has come from.
Weirdly, there is nothing in this thread from that time. I know it was the last round of the season and half the board probably logged off for six months, but you'd think someone would have made a toast thread or somthing.

I guess we'll see, but I think you're over-rating Collingwood there. They are going to get worse before they get better IMO.

I just want to know what happened to Levi in the off-season after he had 38 touches against Melbourne in the final round.

He should have had a ripper year after that instead of 3? years in the wilderness.

Getting those 50 undeserved games into so many players isn't helping so much now is it?
Other than finishing top 4 this year......no, not really.

******* hopeless North.

The worst case of mishandling I have seen since we drafted Graham Cornes for half a season.

Call us armchair critics on BF or whatever you like but for 3 years many of us on here have been singing Levi's praises and the lack of offering him something earlier in the year when it was obvious he had hit some form acceptable to Match Comittee was negligent to the extent that now he has been given offers he can't refuse.

Totally disgraceful, disappointing and frustrating.

I am struggling to understand the angst here. Higgins has played 17 or more games in 5 of the last 6 years and scored 17 or more goals in a season in 3 of the last 6 as well as getting 18 possessions per game and we get him for 400K.

We refuse to pay 450 K to a bloke who is one year younger, who scored over 4 goals in a season for the first time this season and has played 17 or more games only twice in the last 6 years and who averages half a disposal more per game.

I know he is a nm bloke but I donot see the cause for the angst.

Do you mean I was dreaming when I was singing the song that wonderful friday night a few weeks ago when we beat Geelong and made the Preliminary Final.

Damn, to think that such a sweet memory was all in my imagination.

Can we actually trade for Greenwood?? he's out of contract?? or do we get compensated?? Anyways direct swap for Paul Seedsman for me thank you very much.
Seedsman was ordinary this year due to injury but he is a player that we are never trading. (a) His form last season makes his perceived value significantly lower than what it should be; and (b) his importance to the pies is inflated because they have very few players who can carry the ball and hit a target with any kind of consistency.

I can't think of any senior players on our list that both clubs could agree to. Maybe Nathan Brown although injuries are a bit of a turn off.

It will likely be a draft pick and I think around pick 20 is reasonable. That's what we got for Wellingham when he was still regarded as a pretty good player.

Lol. A lot of those same armchair critics wanted us to trade Goldstein.

Face it, we have very little idea.

Pickering on radio saying North handled it poorly by taking too long to make a reasonable offer. That gave other clubs time to get involved. Made no bones about the fact that North blew it. Look forward to hearing Norths version.
He has to say that or his client just looks like a money grubbing pig. I find it astounding that he claims our deal we put forward would have been taken 2 months ago, yet it's not good enough now? I'll give you the tip, 2 months ago he wasn't getting cash thrown at him.

I dont think Levi should get to say exactly which club he wants to join. If WB, Coll and Rich all had good offers for him, NM should get to decide who gives back the best trade in return for him and thats where he goes. Since when do players just all of a sudden decide they will be traded to team X.

The AFLPA has really changed the landscape in recent years.

the problem is we final we saw what greenwood offers and there is no denying he was massive in all our wins in the finals, the contract should have been done and dusted by finals time if not few days after.
disappointing thing is it allowed Ziebs and Cunnington to play forward.

Nah, it's got to be a balance. Should he take less coin at Rich because they can satisfy us in a trade?

By the same token, trade has to satisfy us as well.

All that's happened is he has nominated where he'd like to go. There's no guarantees until a trade gets done, but if he refuses we shouldn't be able to trade him to Tigs against his will.

That's how Mitch Clark ended up at the Dees. He wasn't chasing money, but Freo couldn't (or wouldn't) satisfy Brisbane in a trade. Mitch genuinely wanted to get back to WA, so when the Dees came in with an acceptable offer to Brissy they had to give him a truckload of money to compensate him for not going to his preferred destination. If somebody ponies up now with money for Levi and a pick/player for us he could still end up elsewhere.

Don't make me bump the Levi threads of the past three years....one of the few BF constants that we can say "I told you NMFC'

So whats stopping us doing that too. I doubt we would match the Pies completely but surely we could still have a chat with him and put a better offer if we really dont want to lose him. Collingwood have been trying to do that with Beams since he said he wanted a trade. If we wanted to keep him I would have thought we could just up our offer and he would stay.

I'm still a bit unclear, but what happens if we decline the trade from Collingwood? Does Levi walk to the PSD? And where does that leave us in regards to compensation etc?

Just be sure to do the same for Goldstein, Harper, Pedersen and Ayden Kennedy.

"The club should have signed him, BF was right" is very poor reasoning.
