No fear... going by Levi's current trend he'll play a stellar year for the pies in 2017 and piss off to the giants for 3 years... saddened a bit but life goes on.

Apparently bulldogs offer was greater so he will end up at the kennel.
If we do the same thing as we did with Ball and his contract is 1.8 Mil over 4 years he will throw a 700K per year over two year price tag on his head then pay the last two at 200K a year. The PSD is too easily maniputlated and needs to be changed.

should exchange him for a player or player and pick combo from the pies.
One of Ben Kennedy, Jamie Elliott or Nathan Brown
I'll say it every time it comes up. Hell will freeze over before the Pies trade Jamie Elliott. He singlehandedly held their forward line together for most of this year and is on the rise.

Nathan Brown barely played last year and has had injury troubles for several years. I don't think that would work for North.

Ben Kennedy is an interesting one. High draft pick but is always on the edge of the senior side, and they are over quota on short-arsed midfielders who can also sneak goals.

I'm just not sure that politically they will be keen to lose any more players in whom they have any investment. Too much has walked or been pushed out, which is why they want to start building with what they have and Levi. I'd expect either a pick for Levi, or some kind of deal involving another club.

Please, no-one say Merrett again.

love to hear from the club in regards to Greenwood and the strategy going forward now
North's strategy is clear, Jacobs re-signed, nothing to fear.....pretty poor by North he's just finished 3rd in B&F (unlucky not to be higher) and couldn't hang onto him, he had A LOT to do with our good year, is a loss.

Hmm just read the transcript of Pickering. Might've been diplomatic but I agree with those who thought it was pretty damning.

We stuffed this up. Before the "club is always right" brigade protest, don't tell me that losing a guy hitting his physical peak who missed winning our B&F by 2 votes in a top 4 year was part of the plan.

We fluffed this up badly and the onus is on the club to drive hard and get appropriate compensation without being intimidated by Collingwood.

Well I guess Ziebell can get over his shoulder and have a better year next year.

Or Bastinac.

Or Jacobs can play an inside role instead.

Or Dumont can play 1s.

And we have $350K-400K for someone else.

Really struggling to find the positives here.

Swallow will also come back bigger and better you would think off a full pre-season. While not ideal losing him, not the end of the world either

Levi Greenwood has informed North Melbourne that it is his intention to request a trade to the Collingwood Football Club.

“We were hopeful that Levi would re-sign and stay at North Melbourne and it is disappointing to lose a player of his calibre,” Director of Football Geoff Walsh said.

“The commerciality of AFL today is very real and an environment that both clubs and players alike are a part of. In this particular case Levi has been presented with a superior offer from another club, and we fully understand how the system works.

“The significant piece of work that remains is for Levi’s nominated club to be able to provide compensation that is able to satisfy us.”

Greenwood was recruited with pick #32 in the 2007 National Draft from Port Adelaide in the SANFL. The midfielder has played 74 games since his debut in 2009.

“We thank Levi for his contribution to the club over his seven years at Arden Street,” Walsh said.

Doesn't have the speed and endurance to cover opponents like Levi. Better up forward. Therefore different types.

Or Bastinac.
Should consider himself lucky to be at North Melbourne next year. All the ability and none of the oomph. Next.

Or Jacobs can play an inside role instead.
Currently can't be relied on to not drop the pill like a bar of soap when he realises he's playing under lights. Work in progress.

Or Dumont can play 1s.
Potentially a good player but it's all potential at the moment I don't think he'll match Levi's ferocity at the contest and explosiveness.

And we have $350K-400K for someone else.

Really struggling to find the positives here.
Unless we particularly well I think we've lost the side's glue. He was a great partner in crime for Swallow, allowed Cunnington to be the first player to receive the pill from congestion and use his vision to setup play and allowed Ziebell to play wider and up forward and use his marking and long kicking better.

It is what it is but I don't think we'll just cover his role automatically like you infer. He was a real moneyball player this year.

Or one of those first or second rounders that have not got game time can have the opportunity to do so under an experienced corps of players.

No advantages by his move whatsoever.
