I would take Lions' pick 25 AND Pies' pick 30. Gives us 16,25,30,36.
Agree this would give us some good players to look into, this looks like a draft full of hidden gems. I think this is prob the best case scenario. We could even try move up the order by doing a 2 for one type deal of picks, so that'll give us 3 top 30 kids and 2 up graded rookies

I think we should try and get them to entertain Levi + 16 for pick 5.

It probably won't get done but I'd prefer to have a free shot at the top 10 than 4 kids in the 16-40 mark (though Bryce is probably the one bloke that could hit success every time on 4 picks in that range).

It's getting harder and harder to cut players each year as we build depth and a strong squad so IMO at least I'd prefer to see one quality kid who was probably going to make it than 4 who may not be here in 2 yrs time.

Basically Levi doesn't get to pick where he goes... per se.

He can nominate all he wants but it doesn't mean we have to get him there.

Collingwood do not "have us over a barrel" in any way shape or form.

We can still let Levi walk into the draft and nominate his price of which all reports point to the dogs being able/willing to match the figure (in fact exceed the figure) outlined by Collingwood within its offer.

What Levi CAN do is refuse to be traded to a club, we couldn't force him to Brisbane for example, so he could just say no to being traded to the other 16 clubs, after which we can choose to take nothing rather than being lowballed and see Levi picked up by a bottom 3 team who would be frothing at the proverbial over him.
would he have to go into pre season draft if he is I contracted in which case he saints or melb would pick him up. Please correct me if I am wrong but he can only nominate for national draft if he is delisted.

I'm not sure on specifics about eligibility for each draft, hell I couldn't tell you the difference between each draft.

Gutted. Won't be easy to replace him, his tank and pressure around the ball isn't something most of our inside mids already have. One of the main reasons we could afford to rest Cunnington and Ziebell forward.

So was Greenwood still away in Bali when he called Brad Scott to request a trade? That seems pretty poor to me, the kind of thing you would want to tell someone face to face. Fair enough if you want to leave but don't be a coward about it.

Every year this gets said by scorned fans, and every year the player in question gets where he wants to go.

I would be hoping for me but I reckon if it gets to 2pm Friday and we're rejecting a pick in the early/mid 20s, we're being irresponsible.

Get GWS involved and get O'Rorke to the club by beating Hawthorns offer... If they manage to get a former pick 2 for donuts and we don't do what we can to stop it, hawthorn are gonna dominate for another decade

Scorned fans? I've made peace with it.

It's the truth, we don't HAVE to get him where he wants to go.

I never said we WOULDN'T

Apart from being the No 2 draft pick in 2012, exactly what does this O'Rourke bring to the table ?

But we will, because in the long run it's better to move on, get a decent draft pick and accommodate a player than it is to "make a stand".

Yep, but if they want Beams.....

I'd absolutely entertain a straight swap, even send a pic Brisbane's way to make it happen, kid is going to be a star back/forward.
Yep, we could do far far worse than Mcstay.

197cm? Could stand to add a few kg to his frame, marking defender who is decent on the rebound and kicks goals.
