Sounds believable from such a respectable long time poster like you....
Think what you like.
Bumped into one of the boys that I have known for quite some time and he let me know. I didnt like the news either but he has no reason to talk crap and neither do I.

Will pick 20 odd work? No.

Will pick 20 odd and some Richmond spud work? No.

So, if Levi wants Richmond want Levi it will be up to them to come up with an appropriate deal for a player who had a year equivalent to their best and fairest. Otherwise Levi can walk for free to St. Kilda.

Unless of course he re-signs.
As a North fan what would you prefer, a swap of first & second round picks for Greenwood or nothing? That is effectively what it looks like being given our second pick is too low and our first pick is too high. As I said in an earlier post, swapping the picks gives North something rather than nothing and getting a crack at the draft 4 spots higher than you currently are picking can make a big difference to the kid you pick up.

The same age thing means nothing. Greenwood's had his breakout year now.

Vlastuin doesn't have the skills or poise of Hodge. Has the hardness, though, and should find the footy in the midfield (doesn't read the play well enough to impact offensively from the backline). Hey, kinda like Greenwood.
Vlastuin is also only 20 and as much as I disagree with your assessment of him, I'm telling you his play style is in the Hodge mould, he may not be as good but that's what it is. Regardless, unrelated to this threads discussion.
Same age doesn't mean anything... some players come out firing, some take time and some fade away... Greenwood was very average in the beginning...
The Conca comparison was to show you the type of player we have that fits the role Greenwood would fill, I'm not saying Greenwood was shit or anything so don't take my words in a way they're not intended. Conca also had a shit year (on top of discipline issues), was well under his expected output, and he has never had a full preseason with us since he has been on our list due to injury, it's frustrating as hell from our perspective so we know there is a lot of room for improvement.

Potentially. Lets see what transpires.

Straight swap with Ellis and your second rounder?

If Levi's going to Richmond the club, they won't be as stingy as these dumbarse Tigers supporters. Any club would give up a pick in the teens for a player that is playing like Pig is. It's still under his value. Really ******* hope he isn't going. Gives more to our midfield than some on here than some think, he's not just "another inside mid" he actually has an outside game and runs really hard defensively.

Going on the logic displayed here about players having breakout years. Ellis just had his in his 3rd season, making the AA squad of 40 plus landing 9 Brownlow votes, I'd have to ask for your first 2 picks and Greenwood even then we'd be getting ripped off. ;)

IF Levi goes, does the contract length and amount for Higgins give the Doggies a compo pick that becomes valuable (somewhere between picks as discussed above?) Dogs one of those mentioned somewhere I think and/or three-way trade with Richmond or Collingwood?

So if Levi goes its effectively Higgins for Levi,
What a Jip!!!!
And 400k to rub salt into the wounds :-(
Even worse when i consider pea heart bastinac will still be running round with the Blue and White, may as well keep LA on the list if we are officially going soft.

Do people realise 400k is close to the average wage for an AFL footballer?

We aren't paying draftees anymore.
$400,000 is twice the average for an AFL footballer.

$400,000 for everyone in your best twenty two leaves around 1.2 million to spread over 26 other guys.

The short story is that if everyone in your best twenty two earned $400,000 the rest of your list makes less than $50,000 each.

Not quite. Next year the salary cap is around $10M - divide by 40 and you get 250k per listed player.

Say you have 10 guys on an average of 100k that leaves $9M for 30 - or 300k per player.

I'd be more than happy to move Greenwood on if the price is right. We have that position covered. The argument about us demanding 11 but not paying to his demands rests more to the point in that, we have his position covered. We need to bring in midfield class, the workmanlike attributes he offers can be made up by Cunners, Swallow and Ziebell, possibly Dumont. Basti is still around and may bounce back (gasps). But look at our list and who we've drafted

Luke, Dumont, Turner
Garner, Wood
Bmac, Curran
Harper not coming on hurts.

Look at the age of Wells, Dal, Boomer, and the skills of Gibbo.

The list NEEDS top end midfield youth coming in with pace and skill. If we have to shuffle the chairs to get it, then so be it. It has to be done though imo.

On the off chance we scored 11, we go to the draft with 11 and 16, bring in Waite and Higgins and I would be stoked as list management is now at the point where we could target the best fit at those picks.

However, if the price isn't right trade wise, then all of the above is null and void.
