Draperi Ive convinced myself is going. Losing two AFL ready rucks is worst case scenario
So we just find another guy around 23-26 and sign Blakiston. Who cares if we suck. Hell just play 2MP in the ruck. I hope Bristle stays (and I trust Dero on this) but if both go it is not really the end of the world as far as what we are doing goes. Visentini and Gerryn can play the odd game as well. Ruck harry Jones. It does not really matter.

Have you worked through the actual logic of this at all?
Or are you just spiralling again.

Are we competing. No.
Are we rebuilding? Yes.
Will that rebuild be complete at the end of this year. Newsflash, NO.

Do rucks make massive impacts on the success of a side and its ability to compete. Largely no, they are the least important part of the midfield group.

So we lose draper and Bryan in your doomsday, burn it all down scenario.

We would still have, Blakiston, Goldy, wright, Vigo.
We would be up potentially a top 5 or at worst end of 1st round pick. Whatever pick we get for Bryan.
Freed up list spots to further turn over the list.
Clear runway to plan for the future of the position with clear path, not the weird will they won't they play 2 rucks and try and make 1 a forward.

We are not competing, we are not on a timeline where loss of two rucks right now who at their best are still not in the top 10 at their position would be a doomsday scenario.
Fair summation 👍

Running again and looks to have put on a bit of bulk in the chest.

I am assuming he stays so the timeline puts him right in the frame to play round 1.

Hayes is next, about a month behind Bryza in the recovery conga line

Wonder if this means draper gone?

Is the inverse true?

If Nick was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life does that mean Draper is staying?

Draper is definitely gone, IMO. Distinctly waiting until the end of Essendon's season which, to me, can only mean one thing
I agree he's gone, I mean why would you stay at a club who looks to be down for many more years when you could go to 2 contenders in Adelaide and brisbane who also conveniently have some of the best young talent in the league? Could be contending for the 5 years hes getting offered.

But also devils advocate, to extract the most money out of your club you should wait as long as possible. I'm sure if he signed today he'd of earnt more than if he signed 2 months ago

haha point taken. was more to do with timing of re-signing, there were reports earlier this month that Bryan and Visentini contracts were on hold till they had an answer from Draper.

Up coming change in the ruck rules may favour him. Will not have to wrestle the big beasts.

good

kid needs to start showing something consistently

Of course he does. We’re certainly not going to cut him from the list any time soon. Goldy has max 1-2 years left you’d think so in an ideal world he’d be ready to transition at the right time. Either that or we just start playing one ruck and 2MP has to pinch hit and we play Caddy or Jamarra Ugle-Hagan.
Is Jamarra a chance to come to dons, rumoured to be training with Tsatas, but Tsatas also doing medical with port.

Hope not. We're not strong enough to look after him and make sure he's doing the right thing. Sydney might be a better fit for him, might be good to get away from Melbourne.

Where did you hear these?

How's his recovery going? We're going to need it to be going swimmingly with Draper leaving.

Running with Vigo and Goldy (if he stays) in the early part of next season is going to be ugggleeee

Sure. But like. How is Bryan tracking? If he going to be fit for the second half of the season only? Round 1?
Injury report from August 28:
“24. Nick Bryan (ACL)
Bryan resumed running over the past week without concern.
He will keep progressing in his rehab following some time away during the break period. He remains on track to return in the early rounds of 2026.”

Nothing new since then as players and a lot of staff other than those responsible for list management and AFLW are on leave.

Fingers crossed. We went from having what looked like being a 2 headed monster the early part of this year, to a no headed monster

Can't expect a huge amount from Vigo for 2-3 years.
