Certainly having 2 in a week makes it feel like that. Devestating for Bryan and Edwards for sure. And some of our great players from Coleman, N Daniher, Salmon and Mick long have either had their careers curtailed or their brillianace dimmed by the dreaded knee. But unfortunately every club has their own story of this misfortune - I think Brisbane had 4 ACLs in 2024 alone. It's good that surgical repair has made such great strides that there is pretty good prospect of succesful return, but yeah, it's such a shame when a player who has struggled to get to the level cops one just as he is starting to show signs of having made the grade. We have to have one of the worst records for ACLs as a club in my time watching.
Add Tim Watson, Bewick, Solomon, Hille, and Draper as key players who’ve done knees off the top of my head.Certainly having 2 in a week makes it feel like that. Alwyn Davey aswell who was electric in his first year, never got that elite speed and movement back to what it was.Add Tim Watson, Bewick, Solomon, Hille, and Draper as key players who done knees off the top of my head.
Two in a couple of weeks. Was looking forward to seeing both he and Edwards this season (especially the latter with his half against the Dogs). Hopefully doesn't turn into Richmond 2024 where they had over 10% of their list go down with ACLsWe have to have one of the worst records for ACLs as a club in my time watching.
Was late to the 94 pre season match at Subi against WCE - got in and word was out Longy did his. Not sure he ever recovered the express pace he had. At least these days most seem to retain athleticism after ACLs.Add Tim Watson, Bewick, Solomon, Hille, and Draper as key players who done knees off the top of my head.
Licha and Dempsey did one in the same game or did I imagine that? I may have had a couple of Carlton Drafts. It was against Carlton and we still won though form memory!Add Tim Watson, Bewick, Solomon, Hille, and Draper as key players who done knees off the top of my head.

Forgot that was a draw. Which segues into Fletcher's first game. It was a draw too (against Carlton). Fletcher played in the ruck that day.Great memory, I’d forgotten this game.
Reckon you are remembering correctly, except that it was a draw (the fletcher run down Garlett late game)
maybe get players to stop doing sick jumps off the top off your head?Add Tim Watson, Bewick, Solomon, Hille, and Draper as key players who done knees off the top of my head.
Wasn’t Longy’s a patella first time round and an acl second time? Memory is a bit sketchy. Was late to the 94 pre season match at Subi against WCE - got in and word was out Longy did his. It’s a tradition.maybe get players to stop doing sick jumps off the top off your head?

It really only seems to be the guys who suffer multiple ACLs like Alex Johnson who end up running like they're on train tracks. If it's just a one off it's hardly noticeable. Was late to the 94 pre season match at Subi against WCE - got in and word was out Longy did his. Not sure he ever recovered the express pace he had. Yep, they took a graft from his patella for his ACL reconstruction, then said patella rupturedOther way around. Patella was his comeback game from an ACL (I believe) in the Centenary game against the Cats
Remembered Tim missing a good part of 1986 with a knee injury but wasn't sure it was an ACL. I notice Richmond have 5 players currently on the AFL's injury list shown as ACLs, though some of those are left over from last season injuries. Granted not stars, but might well be playing otherwise.Add Tim Watson, Bewick, Solomon, Hille, and Draper as key players who’ve done knees off the top of my head.
Tim was out from rd3 ‘86 until rd6 ‘87 with his knee. Are you sure it wasn’t an ACL? I honestly can’t remember to be honest. Had just assumed it was for all these years.Remembered Tim missing a good part of 1986 with a knee injury but wasn't sure it was an ACL. With our history of big knees I was thinking more about the key players we’ve lost over the years as opposed to fringe players.
Yep, he was mentioned in the post I originally replied to. That knee injury was all tied up with the first time footy properly broke my heart. My hopes were high in ‘81 after we had defeated Carlton in the great comeback game. We’d won 16 in a row and Neale was leading the Sun player of the year award. I went to my first ever game the week after his injury when Geelong broke our winning run by beating us in the wet and denying us the double chance. We then lost the elim final and ****ing Carlton won the premiership.N Daniher who my Dad regularly referred to as the best Daniher...
