Sort of like if a Rat goes inside the house does it become a mouse and if a mouse goes outside the house is it a rat?
Do people get better when they leave norf? Ben McKay probably did but you wouldn’t notice

This kid is going to compliment the rest of our list perfectly. Time will tell if he’s better than Robey or Sharp, but right now I’ve got no doubt he’s a more important piece to complete our list puzzle. When you watch the best teams you see the likes of Blakey, Whitfield, Ash, Fletcher, Wilmot, Dale, Amon, Zorko, Holmes, Rioli, Clark running the lines at speed and spring boarding from half back - Grlj compliments Banks perfectly and should be a great 1-2 punch off half back. Whether he ends up midfield or not who knows ?? But IMO he’s a Monty to be at the very least a damaging HBF / winger, which is a puzzle piece we needed more than a big bodied mid-fwd.
I hadn’t thought of it. But that’s a great comparison with how he takes the game on and breaks lines. Nick Blakey.
May not have the elite shoe like Blakey, but that pace, and side step through the middle. I’ve always wished we had someone to do that. Even more so since Rioli has gone.

Are you comparing him to 300 game shedda or the guy who turned up year one 60kg ringing wet

Sort of both.

Shedda never had that explosive pace, was quick but not Grilj. But Sheds had that ability to do things before the other players as a junior. I remember when we drafted him and the raps on him included that he would sometimes do stuff and you had to watch a replay to work out what was going on.

Grilj is much more explosive and able to cut through. btu he doesn't have that ability to make you go 'what the!' with some of what he does - except for exploding at angles through congestion which Shedda didn't do.

Shedda got everything out of himself. If Grilj does the same he'll be just as much of a star.

Certainly reminds me of how Rioli performed once moved back

Hits- Dyson Heppell, Dan Curtain, Caleb Serong.

Average- Toby Travaglia, Jy Amiss, Griffen Logue, Callum Ah Chee, Peter Wright, Luke MacDonald
I'll take Ah Chee over Heppell every day of the week. Even despite him having an award named after him.

Yes he did but it wasn’t evident in year one

I agree with this

Heppell had a very disappointing career IMO

Bog ordinary at best

'He says his dad’s side of the family hails from Italy, Slovenia and Macedonia and the Grlj surname is primarily Slovenian where the J is considered a vowel.'

A good nickname could be 'The Macedonian Marvel'.

I’m really impressed with this kid. The elite combo of speed/endurance is already showing how damaging it can be just in training sims.

Put this Ferrari on the MCG and we’re going to see a seriously talented footballer.

I had concerns about the transition into the midfield but I have no doubts after watching him already. He will play be capable of midfield time…he will roll thru the middle at some points this year.
