If Longmire was still in charge Cootee would definitely not be playing next week but I hope Cox is different and understands he needs to give a new player at least 2 or 3 games.

Very true, but I'd now like to see Billy given the opportunities that Corey was given. We have to cut him some slack as it was his first game but no doubt if Corey Warner had that kind of performance last night the pitchfork brigade would be calling for his head.
I get your point, but if that random plodder named Isaac Heeney is fit to play and returns, who would you have go out in his place, if not Cootee? If Longmire was still in charge Cootee would definitely not be playing next week but I hope Cox is different and understands he needs to give a new player at least 2 or 3 games.

It feels like similar comments have been made by various people this week, to the point of it being unusual. I’m curious what character traits he’s bringing to the table? Nice to be so liked!i'm not sure how many of you caught Fox pre-game interview with Coxy but he was effusive in his praise of Billy. Said he was a credit to his parents and he'd never seen a player who wasn't a regular be popular amongst his team mates.
Resilence, resolve, hard work, leadership, maturity, intelligence, funny, involved, worldly in this afl caper, collegiality ?It feels like similar comments have been made by various people this week, to the point of it being unusual. I might be reading into this too much, but is this not a strange comment to make? The implication is that popularity at the club is defined by their position security in the team...i'm not sure how many of you caught Fox pre-game interview with Coxy but he was effusive in his praise of Billy. I'm paraphrasing C88. Don't take my words as gospelI might be reading into this too much, but is this not a strange comment to make? The implication is that popularity at the club is defined by their position security in the team...

I suspect if you inserted a 'so' between 'be' and 'popular' it makes more sense.I'm paraphrasing C88. Don't take my words as gospel![]()

Placeholder ? is this a septic termBilly had a decent debut but was a placeholder for Isaac. He will have known that and not be surprised that he's back playing VFL next week. He'll keep doing his best and reminding people that he's got what it takes. Character.
He has plenty of good characteristics and no doubt will have things to work on.I'm really pleased that Cootee was given another game against the Dees after his debut. And I'm bullish about his future. But I've seen enough of him in seniors for now. I think Harry Cunningham offers a fair bit more at this point in time and Billy can take what he's learned back to the VFL with his appetite whetted and look to earn his next chance. He'll be sensational for our reserves.
What's his best do you thinkHe has plenty of good characteristics and no doubt will have things to work on.
Very quick to write him offBilly seems a top quality young man and talented footballer at a lower level, but unfortunately I don’t think he’ll cut it in the AFL. Hopefully he steadily improves and proves me wrong, but I’m just not seeing it yet.
Fingers crossed I’m made to eat my words, but he looks a fair way beneath the level, even for a newbie. He’s a good size, good runner and clearly well regarded, so ideally he’ll start getting more ball and kicking more goals.Very quick to write him off
There is a player there but not ready yet
