25 Greatest bulldogs

So this is the list at the moment -

25 Greatest Bulldogs (so far)
1925-45: Norm Ware, Harry Hickey, Arthur Olliver, Charlie Sutton, Allan Hopkins, Alby Morrison
1946-65: John Schultz, EJ Whitten, Wally Donald, Jack Collins
1966-85: Gary Dempsey, Doug Hawkins, Kelvin Templeton, Simon Beasley
1986-2005: Scott Wynd, Chris Grant, Scott West, Brad Johnson, Tony Liberatore

Who do we think makes it from 2005 on wards? There is still 6 spots left.

Bont is a given and it's already been announced Ellie Blackburn is one so who are the other 4.

My guess would be Easton Wood, Matty Boyd, Bob Murphy and Tom Liberatore

For a defender I would have Morris over Wood but in saying that despite the ending Ryan Griffen would have to be the one

I think you're correct other than maybe Macrae over Wood..

I'd say the final 5, excluding Blackburn, must come out of the following (some in this list obviously far more likely than others): Lake, Griffen, Macrae, Boyd, Morris, Cooney, Murphy, Wood, Libba, Bont.

(how much weight does premiership captaincy hold, and the impact of Griffen's departure?).

Adam Cooney is worth a shout, not sure if he did enough but the brownlow surely means he's a chance.

Bont can take up the last 6 spots

I’m going for
Blackburn
Bont
Dale Morris
Tom Libba
Bob Murphy
Matty Boyd

Was surprised to hear some disappointment at club (past players) and supporter level with the Blackburn inclusion.

Premiership Captain
4 x All Australian
5 x Club Best and Fairest
Games record holder.
Leading goal kicker 2017.

Not many in our clubs history have resumes like hers. She was a moral.

I feel like Rohan Smith is often the forgotten player in these kind of lists.

The only 300 gamer excluded. Was happy to be thrown anywhere to serve the team.

When you add his excellent service off field as a development and line coach and club service over 30 years, I feel they should have found a spot for him.

In my eyes, he is undoubtedly one of the 25 greatest Bulldogs and deserves such recognition.

Wood simply has to make it. We’ve got 2 premierships and he boldly and bravely captained the team from April in 2016. It was a legendary performance and often underestimated in poor old Bobs misfortune. He was quite injured and still kept flying for those marks on that crook ankle. Easton Wood bulldog immortal. Obviously if Bob is already been put in Matty Boyd makes it because their careers were similar length both as players and captains, yet Boyd has 3x All Australian to Bobs 1 (Captain) 3x Charles Sutton medalist and the premiership in an All Australian year! So Boyd a certainty. I’d have Morris for sure, just a legendary player and apparently teammate. I’d also have Liam Picken, Tom Libratore and Bont. But that might be too many. If they had to make it 26 I would because premierships count for way more than not. We love our non premiership players, but it takes a certain amount of commitment to get through a finals campaign undefeated.

Billy Gowers stiff.

Is there a criteria for selection? I.e. is it the 25 best players in the club's history, or is it the 25 best overall contributors?
You can't ask questions like that!

2000-25: Bob Murphy, Matthew Boyd, Dale Morris, Tom Liberatore, Marcus Bontempelli, Ellie Blackburn

Would have loved to see Easton Wood in there, to be honest. But then again, who do you take out? All deserved.

Macrae another to be considered stiff, but it's inevitable that there'll be some to just miss in a list list this. You can't squeeze them all into 25.

The club has just released the final group of the 25 Greatest Bulldogs (Bob, Dale, Moyd, Libba, Bont, Blackburn), and on Monday have a gala where they'll release the ranked top 5 greatest bullies of all time. Bont likely to be ranked 1, maybe 2 - I reckon it's likely the contract news will be announced then. Thoughts?

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, haven't gone back too far.
I understand they've put Blackburn in there for optics but a few players on the fringe would have to be dirty at that.

Luke Darcy? Macrae?

Now for the 25 best coaches over the last 100 years.

There have been 28, including very short term coaches like Paul Williams.

So who misses out? I reckon Bevo is probably safe.

Alright Top 5 guesses mine is:

1 - Marcus Bontempelli
2 - Ted Whitten Snr
3- Gary Dempsey
4 - Chris Grant
5 - Scott West

Looking at BnFs and AA as rankings

Personally think maybe they should've done a separate 5 for AFLW but then again you'd struggle to be able to do that given Conti/Kearney/Toogood at a minimum would be 3/4
