Cheney was consistently dominant at VFL level in 2013, winning Box Hill’s best and fairest award. But he could not establish a place in the strong Hawthorn backline, managing only four games. The mid-sized defender has been solid and reliable when given opportunities, but may need to add an extra string to his bow if he is to become a regular. Was a member of Box Hill’s premiership team and an emergency for the AFL Grand Final.
