True first class team guy is Lach. Very good player when fit too.

Team first .. is a good culture to keep bubbiling along ..he and Brownless will not have lost face from their recent machinations... they will actually be enhanced in the clubs and teams eyes (imo)... Its not all lollipops and rainbows being in the afl system ... its more like the AirSupply song Love and other bruises playing AFL ... Ultimates mixed with extreme downs and bumps in the road ..its not a merry go round type of ride its the Big Dipper a loose seat belt... its high reward high impact enviorment.. and not for all.

So keeping that right culture and attitude within the club is probably the cost list management sometimes is willing to pay .. keeping player too long or persisting with players beyond our outside looking in says is logical. Why keep Cowan for way past when johnny with his big brown stick would say is smart? Maybe cause the club ..not the side is the key. After all ..Lonergan , Menzel and many others did it really hard .. who wants to be a gripper for being on a rookie list now?

Good luck to him and if he can help develop Dek then he is worth his spot.

People love to say “what if 3 ruckman went down”

What about if Blitz went down and Heaven forbid old man Harry.

We’d be relying on Kolo, Henry and De Koning to tackle monsters in a final. Hendo gives us great flexibility. Hopefully he’s fully fit and can play another 2-3years

We allowed Gaz and Harry to go on so we are still “all in” on a flag. Should have been a no brainer

Itwas purely lack of spots once Abbott got pinched it opened up a spot. Lach is still quality.
Definitely lucky Abbott got picked. Needs a big pre season. This time last year he was ahead of Taylor, yet injuries and Taylor getting his body right saw him slip behind him. Maybe he can help out De koning and his development otherwise just back up.

Not to mention how effective he was at full forward in the prelim

After 206 games Hendo has pulled the pin.

Best of luck to him going forward and many thanks ona great career both here at Geelong and before that.

Really got the most from himself in the back 1/2 of his time at Geelong... and we got full value for a bloke on a Rookie deal that played every week.

Probably looks a bit weird to see him in the yellow and black but here is Lachie Henderson playing for the Labrador Tigers in the QAFL this year. He played well for Labrador and served several roles both in the forward and back lines throughout the season before being rewarded with a spot in the QAFL Team of the Year last month. There were plenty of other former AFL players at Labrador this year like Cameron Ellis-Yolmen, Andrew Boston and head coach Nick Malceski so Henderson did well to shine in a new environment. Labrador did qualify for the finals this year but were unfortunately upset in the first round by a crosstown rival. Not sure if he's going to play on with Labrador next year but I thought you guys might be interested to see where a recently retired player of yours is playing these days.
