Like us looking to the Jets rather than Queensland for under-rated draftees. Paul looks classy af, with Mahoney putting on the pressure alongside Larkey, CCJ, Zurharr, Ford and myriad goal kicking mids the forward line is looking dangerous as. Does anyone know how he goes on his right? Not a huge deal but curios.

Better team generally = better output so yeah I would agree.

The other thing is he came onto the scene quite late. He didn't play in the U16's Champs in 2019 or in the NAB League in 2019 as an underager. 2020 there was obviously no NAB League so 7 NAB League games this season was all you really have to go on.

What he showed this year was super impressive and with his lack of exposure at a really high level which generally means he'll have a greater scope for improvement
Cool.

Those few highlights look good.

His main 'weakness' is his perceived lack of versatility. He's got everything you could want in a small forward but hasn't been given a go in any other position which is why I write perceived.

I mentioned a few days ago that he's on par with Rachele as a small forward. The only thing Rachele has over Curtis is a better leap and he's shown he can play through the midfield.
And we don't need him in the midfield

Brett Allison...Lindsay Thomas...Paul Curtis....our next great left footed small forward? Gotta love left footers.

Wash your mouth out by forgetting Phil Krakouer - if he can dance around players like Phil did ,I’ll be happy

This kid looks rad. Need more vids.

The link above will take you to the Round 5 game between Sandringham and Western Jets.

Sandringham Dragons lost 1 game for the year, this one against the Jets, who weren't very good and finished the year 3-6. Curtis had 14 touches, 5 marks, 5 tackles, kicked 4.4 and 154 supercoach/champion data points against the best team in the comp. Admittedly Sandi had some guys out but he was best on ground and won the game off his own boot with Callaghan on the opposing team.

If you have time and can be bothered, some time stamps from this game to check out (he takes the game apart in the 3rd if it's not obvious from the stamps below):

- Start of the 3rd quarter
- Literally the next clearance goes to him again after the goal above
- 7:10 in the 3rd Q
- 13:30 in the 3rd Q
- 19:30 in the 3rd Q
- 22:45 in the 3rd Q
- 4:17 in the 4th Q
- 22:25 in the 4th Q

The above you will give you a small taste of what he has to offer.

Paul Curtis best afield in Western Jets’ victory
A match-winning star turn from a small forward lifted the Jets to a memorable victory, while coach Robbie Chancellor talks up the club’s draft prospects.

A devastating burst from Paul Curtis lifted Western Jets to a stirring 15-point NAB League victory on Saturday.

Curtis’ third-quarter star turn yielded four goals in 15 minutes as the Jets recovered from a 14-point halftime deficit to score an 11.12 (78) to 9.9 (63) triumph over Sandringham Dragons away from home.

The Keilor product had nine shots at goal among 14 disposals and five marks in a best-afield display.

“It was pretty special. He’s certainly got that X-factor and the ability to take a game away from a team in 10 minutes, and he did that on the weekend,” Jets coach Robbie Chancellor said.

“His contest work and ability to finish in front of goal is just really impressive, and it probably ended up being the difference in the game.”

The 178cm livewire is enjoying a productive season in the elite under-age competition, booting nine goals from four appearances.

“You can feel like you don’t see him and he’s not in the game, and all of a sudden he’ll just do something special,” Chancellor said of Curtis.

“The challenge for him is just to create a bit more consistency around what he’s capable of doing and putting in four-quarter performances, not just little bursts.

“That’s something he’s working on, but it was certainly an impressive display (on Saturday).”

A second half onslaught led by livewire Paul Curtis has lifted the Western Jets to an unlikely win over the previously undefeated Sandringham Dragons at Trevor Barker Oval.

In what was the first in a series of blockbuster NAB League matches to be streamed live and exclusive on the Herald Sun website, Curtis slotted all four of his goals inside the first 15 minutes after the main break.

“The emergence of Paul Curtis as a guy, not just who has got potential but he has now got performance as well,” Sheehan said.

“That is what you want to have as a player. He ticked the box for being in the best few players on the ground for your side rather than just showing some flashes of brilliance.”

Curtis’ efforts propelled the Jets to nine second-half goals while the Dragons could manage just four.

Looks very comfortable on a lead that seems for sure. Strong hands 🙌
