Hasn't put a foot wrong since moving into defense. His form improved throughout the NABs and carried that into the VFL praccies so looks like he is settling into the role. No doubt he will be as nervous as buggery on Saturday. Wish the fella well.

One difference between him and Tippett is that Taz is able to rack up possessions very easily, which will be an asset.

I really hope he does a good job tomorrow. His physical attributes are almost all excellent but his body just hasn't been able to function. If he's able to play a full season (and actually train during the week for a change!) then he could be a real surprise packet. Will not just be a great North story, but a great footy story if he can make it.

It would be fantastic for Taz and the club if he could become a solid part of our backline. Would be massive for our premiership chances if he does. He is built like the prototype KP player.
Make the most of it big fella

I think both Tippet and Tarrant can wok down there together.Maybe after Rnd 1 it has taken it out of Tippett but he will bounce back.Hope Taz does well and can hold down a spot.

I'm seriously flummoxed by the Tippett comments.

Then again umpteenth years of Hansen bashing should've indicated how some people perceive players.
I've never had a problem with Hansen. High draft pick and along came the expectations with this, and probably got judged a bit harder. There were Hansenists around, but even they could see his potential, forward or back, the bloke is versatile.

Tippett is far more one dimensional. Luke Delaneyesque with ball in hand, doesn't get enough of it in general, and hasn't shown the potential to spoil like Narni can. Obviously if Hansen and Grima are fit he won't get a look in. He's 4th in line and that's my expectation of him. Backup only.

The thing that could be the making of Tarrant as a defender is his work ethic. It was highlighted in his VFL reports of how good he was at providing run and attack from the back half. He has the tank to get up and down the ground. He has the closing speed to get a fist in and has the strength to wrestle with most forwards. When he played forward he never had trouble getting his hands on the ball, he just couldn't clunk them. It's a lot easier to spoil then it is to take a grab.

My only concern is based on how he struggled when played in defense early days. But shit, that was a long time ago

Tough game to make a return. The ball will be coming in very quickly. I wouldn't be expecting an amazing debut but Scott won't pull any knee jerk reactions. If he plays this week he will very likely be playing next week which he will need if he is to regain some touch.
