I know we've done this debate ... but i have to say, with Black and Daw looking the goods and needing a decent opportunity, i've completely warmed to the idea of putting Hansen back as a full-time defender. It releases Thompson to be the third tall down back whilst giving us a tall forward who offers something a bit different to Petrie and Tarrant (especially if that person is Daw)

Tarrant is possibly worth persisting with as is a lovely kick and just needs to lead more and could become a handy forward target.
Hansen on the other hand just doesn't look a forward at all. Could be a good defender though and would release Scotty Thompson from fullback into a more rebounding role which he thrives on.
Hansen to CHB. Grima to FB and Thompson to just do what he freaking wants in the back half.

Showed some promise today. I get annoyed when he gets pushed off it too easily but today he utilised his size and strength. Like others have said...I'm more worried about hansen

His two contested marks give me hope.
Me too gk as I'm currently recovering from my own second shoulder reco (same surgeon too).

What's that now for Taz, 28 games ish? The bloke will be a big part of our future success, post the Dish years. It's so good to see him without the shoulders taped up like Tutankhamun, and to see him going at pack marks balls and all without fear.

Harsh. He works very hard on multiple leads and is usually pretty hard to stop when he gets half decent delivery.

Thought it was great to see him actually clunking the ball, first time I've really seen him do it at AFL level.

As a junior playing for Xavier, saw him produce the best quarter I've seen any U18 player produce against Emmaus College, was on fire grabbing everything, absolutely dominant, wasnt sure whether he would ever convert it to AFL level but today was a step in the right direction, now just needs to do more of it.

Yes I probably was too harsh on him with my wording there.

I guess I mean his main strength is his leading and kicking. On the lead he can take a good mark. I believe for him to be of value he needs to do this regularly as he has never been someone to hold his position and out body his opponent. Even though he has a perfect build for it, it just isn't how he plays.

Along with Petrie and Hanson we can look pretty top heavy and awkward in the forward half as most teams can run out of the defense very well and against these players it often looks just too easy. That's why I would like to see 1 of the 3 move out and instead bring in a more mobile style of forward.

Problem is I don't think Hansen is tough enough to play as a Key Defender.

Every time he crashes a pack or goes to a marking contest he comes up holding his back, his leg or some other part of the body.

I just don't think he has the physical size or toughness tbh...

Meh hell be a serviceable forward for 100-150 matches. If he gets 2.5 goals a match that'll be good for him - hell kick the odd bag but won't ever be a premier power forward IMO

He's worth his spot in the team though ATM until someone is bashing the door down

5 marks and 2 goals from our third key forward is a good enough effort. I'll be very happy if he can replicate that every week.
I was very happy with Taz yesterday, but have to comment that if he's our third key forward we'd want to be getting a fair bit more regularly from the second.

Good to see him do a couple of things that were are hoping for from a CHF. Still a bit to work on, but his amount of games reflect that.

The fact he and Petrie continually get absolutely woeful (borderline comical) delivery makes his task even harder.

Tarrant was fine today, the second best tall forward, a worry for Hansen with Black getting close.
Interesting. Everyone happy with Tarrant's 5 mark, 2 goal performance yesterday. No mention of Hansens 6 mark, 2 goal performance last week? If you watch Tazza's first mark, it came partly as a result of Hansen pushing back hard into his opponent and clearing space for Tazza to jump at it. He did this about 4 times in the first quarter alone. Drew was the benificiary of it another time as well.
