Effort wasn't there today. Need to learn how to position himself and time his leading better.

Black and Petrie were equally as crap however.
Needs to learn?
Buddy he's not 19.
He's not good enough. And never will be.
We need a better third tall if we're going to play one who offers something different. Tarrant doesn't offer enough and has no distinctive quality as a forward.

3 talls and all did nothing. Black at least got his hands around the ground. If tarrant doesn't mark it, which he hardly did he offers nothing apart from a decoy.

There can be only one...
We could have had Wayne Carey, Jason Dunstall, Tony Lockett and Gary Ablett snr there and it wouldn't have made a lot of difference. 42 inside 50s and most of them were complete shit.

Tarrant terrible but lots of mates. Trade bait? Don't think he has much value.
That's the problem. He's not a very good footballer and doesn't really offer anything as a tall any other average other tall on another club's list already has.
Going forward, if we want to get better and win more - players like Tarrant shouldn't be near the 22. It's an easy assessment to make. He really isn't up to the grade.

That's true but Tarrant still doesn't offer enough, never does and really doesn't have any attributes to worry defences. We know what Black offers, Petrie does get goals and offers a big target - nothing distinctive or dangerous about Black.

Tarrent doesn't have much ceiling, he will never be a star or even approach Petrie's best level, he is nothing more then a battling try hard. I seriously think we should look in trading him if the value is right, we have enough talls and Black and Daw have more potential to grow and are younger.

The Golden Children play in the midfield so your wasting your time if you think pointing out the obvious will matter. It's not like Ziebell, Cunnington, Harvey and Wells weren't terrible for a half.

Mate, he is a leading forward, like Longmire was. Horse couldn't take an overhead or contested mark to save himself, doesn't mean you pull the blanket out and shotgun. You need to utilise your assets better than that. Most of the ball that went to him was either at his feet or had more hang time than an NFL punt. We always do shit against congesters. You have to ask why we played 95% of the game with 20 players in our forward 50.

We are just a dumb football club when it comes to teams that throw ridiculous numbers behind the ball and we let Adelaide dictate the play for most of the game, just dumb footy. How about clear some space, let him lead and put the ball flat out in front of him.

Petrie and Black did sweet **** all as well, it is the way we played, we just played horrible footy.

At least someone else saw what I saw.

The three forward setup has been average for the past month. Yet Tarrant is the only
One copping any criticism.

our mids were horrendous for most of the game, Wells was about the only shining light because he ran and carried the ball. Our guys see ball, get ball, put ball to foot. We are dangerous when we run, carry and spread. We just didn't work hard enough. We let the Crows get on the outside and run and when we had the ball we didn't go.

Petrie was smashed MUCH more than Taz. Smashed!
I cannot fathom, why people on here avoid talking about how shithouse this bloke actually is??

He apparently is a great bloke, that doesn't give you a fee pass to play for NMFC every week, surely?

Tarrant cops it as he is not up to standard. He drops marks a key forward needs to take. He offers nothing at ground level.

He hasn't kicked a goal in 3 games.

We are just a dumb football club

This sums up our season in my opinion. It is not just the coaches, our players just don't strike me as having a very good football IQ. Dragging defenders into the contest, not having any crumbers, getting in terrible positions to receive the ball, leaving your man to gang tackle only for them to get a disposal to a (now free) opponent, not getting goal side, not within a couple of metres of your opponent. FFS it is U10s stuff.

Theres a number of clubs in dire need of tall forwards, im sure there would be plenty of interest. Thought his marking had been much better the year tbh, though today was a stinker and not just for him. Our kicking was woeful. That said we need another quality mid or 2 badly, so if the offer was right id seriously consider trading.
