I didn't say trade him. He might come good who knows.

I just don't think it is fair to select someone who generally plays shit over and over again, but then hide behind injuries. Which one is it for his apologists? He is either fit and thus selected, or he doesn't play for those mentioned (probably valid) injury concerns?

Can't be both and for a so-called club striving for high performance its pathetic to hide behind such excuses.
I know you never said to trade him, but plenty others on here have.

I'll just disagree that he plays shit over and over again. He's never going to be a superstar, but he plays a role in the team and does it pretty well. I won't let one bad performance cloud my judgement of him.

Tarrant is the least of our problems. For some reason we went back to bombing long into 50 which as usual failed badly.

Forwards have no chance when a team fail to lower their eyes when kicking into 50. I lost count how many times Tarrant and Black were torched on the lead.
Depends on the situation. There are plenty of times going long is the right one. Today though with the way Adelaide were set up was definitely not one of them.

Tarrant is our best mobile forward option at the moment.
He played a selfless role last week, today he struggled, but our delivery was shizen (after weeks of good ball use forward we went back to long bombs?). That said, he dropped some marks he should have held.
Daw could come in, but he's not going to offer the same sort of target pushing up the ground, he doesn't have the tank.

Look at the forwards as a whole and tell me which one imposed them self on the game today?

Was it the 200+ gamer? nup not him.

Was it the golden boy? Nup not him

Was it our leading goal kicker? Nup not him

Was it a bloke who's struggled to kick a goal recently? nup not him.

if none of them imposed themselves perhaps the issue is not with them but with where the ball is coming from.

Our midfield that lacks maturity.

But by all means pin it on one bloke and hang him out to dry.

We failed in the midfield we will learn and move on. We are riding on the backs of kids, they stood up last week and showed what they can do. They may stand up next week. We have a road to travel before we meet consistency.

It also didn't help that the best, and most fearless of the lot, almost broke his leg again.

Hansen would be forward if you had your way - argued had no place as a backman.

Not in a great position to comment I suspect.

More than willing to put my hand up and say I am glad that the FD make the calls not me.

Even so would be interested to see what a full of confidence Lachie with free reign to run would look like in the forward line.

Christ that was heart in mouth stuff. How's his effort to take a mark whilst limping off too? Part man, part machine is Jack.

Details mate we are meant to be smashing a bloke who has played less than 50 games over a significant amount of times.

When so many things fail you don't pin it on one guy. That is however the MO of the board after our close losses.

No probs, we disagree again but at least you are rational which is better than many others.

I don't think it's one "bad performance", i'd strongly argue than since debut his bad ones far outweigh his good ones (by a long way).

Maybe if people on here stopped pretending he was the next superstar and as you say, just able to play a role then maybe some common ground would be agreed.

ok sorry let me re-state it, same shit was said about Thomas.
No. Thomas always had attributes to make him successful at AFL level, his kicking let him down.
What does Tarrant offer the side?
You seem very keen to defend him but sadly he's a liability who doesn't have the ability to succeed at AFL level. We're wasting our time, and hurting the success of the team by playing him to be honest.

That's the problem. One in every half dozen games he'll get on the end of a few and kick 3 or 4 and people will cry out I told you so - ignoring the 5 bad games he played before it and let the team down in. Very shortsighted.

Last week I was ridiculed for suggesting trading Tarrant. I will give him til the end of the year to produce 2 good games in a row without getting injured but imo he is the best candidate for a trade. His injury history is terrible, he is in and out of the side and he is not only inconsistent, but consistently out of form.

I'll say it and keep saying it, if you want to get someone with real upside you have to trade someone with upside. There are quite a few players at interstate clubs this year that want to come back to Vic and key forwards with some experience that are fully developed are very thin, not to mention there are clubs after a key forward.

I dont think you'll get someone like Sloane for Tarrant but shorely North should explore all of their options.

He has played 35 games, take out his first 12 where he played as a defender, he has played a total of 23 games as a forward. He has kicked 3-4 goals on 8 occasions.

That's 8 out of 23, or 35% of games he kicks 3 or more. My calculations say that in 1 out of every 3 games he plays pretty well (using 3 goals as a good game for a key forward).

But you say he lets the team down in 5 out of 6 games, maybe you should provide some reasoning behind this.

Indeed. If he is hopeless its because of delivery or injuries, when he plays ok (one per 5 or 6) he is a star on the rise and those who see differently are "haters".

Bold captures it. These same types would probably want Sam Power and Gavin Urqhuart in the 1s, and still think we were being unfair if anyone dare say otherwise.

I was all excited at today's game; I thought they'd honoured some great past North great #25 with a statue out on the actual ground. I thought 'How nice, didn't hear they were unveiling something to do with our past greats'. Then I realised the game had actually started and yeah, that was Tarrant.
