Massive.

Atleast the club realised our leaders are not up to scratch and went out to get him and Darling.

When we needed a lift he shows true grit and will to win a contest and take the clutch moments. When we need someone to take a ****ing contested mark , it was Darling. Our so called leaders hide.

This is what a professional football player is and our younger guys should be looking at the way he plays the game...
He not only has the talent but has a winners mindset. We have too many seniors who have the opposite. Leaders who were mentored by those who also came from eras of shitness or mediocrity. We need to break that cycle and fast. Before Sheezel, Wardlaw, FOS and Hardiman suffer the same.

All started with the ziebell era - where we kidded ourselves he was some gun embodiment of a shinboner because of his physical strength when in reality he was a poorly conditioned tweener with awful disposal and even worse leadership.

This is what McDonald and Simpkin had as a model.

Give it a rinse mate. Ziebell had senior players to rely on for experience until they all got delisted. What other player on the list during Jacks time had captain qualities and wanted the job?

Rightfully burned Larkey when he refused to lead at the ball carrier and told him what he should be doing. Keep telling him, every damn week, until he gets it.

Leader.

Larkey automatically assumed whinge position until he saw the ball sail through.

I'm massively critical of Larkey and his playing for free kicks, but this isn't true.

If you watch him in that moment again you'll see he gets ready to break away from his opponent for a low kick chest mark from Parker, which makes him look like he's dropping the shoulders/arms and complaining. Reality is he was just presenting an option and funnily enough, leading to the ball carrier which so many on here complain about.

I've loved Parker this year but you do realise his goal was a direct result of a huge tackle/pressure effort from Simpkin right?

I watched the footage a few times and saw it different to you.

No issues with that.

Multiple times and you missed Larkey pointing to the goals telling Parker to kick it?

He points to the goal as Parker is running in telling him to kick the goal, then turns back towards parker to present an option in case he doesn't. Larkey wanted him to kick it, so there's no chance he's complaining in this moment.

I'm sure there were other moments in the game he complained, but this was not one of them.

I just saw two of our players working through the options. I didn’t see burning and I didn’t see whinging.

There was no burning. And there was no actual whinging.

Parker wanted Larkey to clear the square, Larkey wanted one over the top. Larkey assumed the pose, but he was jubilant when the ball went through the big sticks.

I thought Larkey led away from the square to enable the shot on goal - ie to take his defender away.

Reality is tho, he should have turned and led at Parker a split second, even a full second earlier. That's what proper leading forwards do regardless of whether Parker takes the shot or passes it.

I'm sure Larkey used to have better forward craft and would have done that in the past. I think he's out of form and low on confidence. Part of that is he has no confidence in the delivery because of the way intercepting backs can stop our entries but his lack of leading makes that worse.

Yeah, he needed to tick back and lead straight up the guts or the far side. Defender goes with Larkey and Parker has an unpressured shot. Defender tries to split the difference and you hit Larkey on the tit. Defender pressures Parker from the front and you get an easy one over the top.

His craft is all over the shop atm.

Nice to see a midfielder commanding our forwards too. GG Parker.

Sydney in the mud. He's gonna end his career as a Shinboner, and if we go anywhere while he's here, as we've threatened at times, he'll be remembered as a Shinboner. Lol
He's had a Waite-esque start to his NM career. Don't know I've seen a player who hates losing more. Cunners maybe. Just a pig of a man
