"But myself being a leader, or the captain of the football club in his scenario, you have to potentially think about things differently because it's not just you that this impacts, it's the whole club. It's 'Scotty' [Brad Scott] as the coach, it's us as players, and all the fans as well.

"He's the best player I've ever played with, so of course you want him to be at the club and at this moment in time he's my captain. With that being said though, it remains to be seen if that's the way it works going forward."

A very, very good point.

Being captain comes with a higher responsibiliy.

I remember Trevor Barker for the Saints, great player, always loyal and stuck by the club to the point he never even let on to players he was dying. Turned up and gave his all. That is respect and unfortunately, Zac has lost much of it now.

I wonder if he wishes he never went on this path.

Great stuff from Redman. I love the fact he approached the club to offer his support. Do others get the feeling Merrett's not the most loved player at the club?
I don’t know how many times I need to say it. Merrett is not well liked within the playing group, doesn’t have many friends, and has an inability to connect with a vast majority of the playing group. That doesn’t take anything away from him as a player or a lead by example type. But outside that he’s moreorless an individual

Not necessarily (it’s Twomey after all, and it’s the off-season so players are incommunicado with the club beyond informing them of their location for ASADA purposes)…

but I do like the possibility.

There's no way the club didn't put out a message to players and staff not to talk about it unless given specific instructions.

Quality stuff from Redman.

His words pretty clearly indicate that if the players have any say, there is no chance Zach remains captain.
This is the type of thing I want to see. I feel like there has been too much tippy toeing around it by the club. We need to be strong. That’s what as supporters we want more of.

This is what actual leadership looks like. Sorry, but being a captain is more than setting high professional standards and an on field example. I’ve never understood the thinking that excellent player equates excellent leader, as if a prerequisite is they must be above reproach on field. Bullcrap. You must lead off field also, and here’s a perfect example. Well done, Mason.

Sam Edmund saying his management asked if a trade was possible a couple of weeks ago.

If true, the nerve of his statement last week...
How would Edmund know that? Why would Redman’s management leak it?
