( leaving aside the unnecessary dislocated shoulder episode) I read today about his struggles with his calf issues and the fact that he couldn't get any specialist knowledge or help regarding his issues despite trying all over Australia. That combined with the fact of him not even being able to train with other players at the Club for a whole year because of this underlines the difficulties this bloke has had to overcome - just to get back to the stage where he can play. It is a sad story for David ( almost as sad as Picketts story - which saw him out of AFL and Carlton after showing so much factor X and promise under Bolton) His shoulder seemed to handle the intensity of contact and tackles - fingers crossed the ligament issues that have plagued his recovery are manageable.

To my eye he has always been one of the most exciting prospects on the list, a rare talent, with speed, strength , vision and an ability to execute under pressure - the fact that the Club under various coaches have stuck with him shows how highly he is regarded internally, - obviously he has to prove his body can cope from now on - if he manages to stay on the park he is easily one of the best players on the list IMO.

More than 2 years away from playing and after only 2 games in VFL - back into the side and he opened up the between teh arcs game for us showing his class with deft one handed pickups, transitional passing, lateral running and a 48 meter set shot through the middle of the posts. This bloke is a genuine weapon for Carlton.

Good luck Cunners and all the best.

Problems with his calves tendons similar as he did with his hamstrings earlier days, travelled around the country seeking answers from specialists that not many could answer, isometric exercises have really helped with helping him get back continuity into his training, only over the past few months he has been able to play footy again…

Wasn’t able to train with the main group for nearly 2 years…

On AFL website today…

He's also one of those rare players who can hit the ball at full speed.

Very unique talent, and makes us a better side every time he runs out for us.
