not sure he's ready yet. only watched a couple of quarters on Saturday but most of his other games. he's not getting involved in many marking contests. probably under instruction. I remember early days he flew at everything. my hope is he just gets thru the year un injured and gains some confidence in his body and sets himself up for next year.
Totally agree, give him some consistent game time in the VFL. Then a full pre-season in preparation for 2026. It'll be like getting another 4 new players with our 2 first rounders & Louie Kallaway.... plus Smillie

So far since he's returned to the VFL
Rd 15 - 4 disposals 2 marks
Rd 16 - 7 disposals 2 marks
Rd 17 - Bye
Rd 18 - 11 disposals 3 marks
Rd 19 - 14 disposals 3 marks

So gradually increasing each week, I assume with added minutes each week

He only needs 2 more VFL games to be eligible for VFL finals (if he plays an AFL game from here), but there are also only 2 more VFL games left, so it will be interesting to see if they prioritise him playing out the season at VFL level, including finals, to set him up for the preseason. Potentially he could get a game against Geelong in Rd 24, but that will clash with the VFL finals wildcard weekend.

I reckon given injuries he'd be able to get an exemption for VFL finals.

It will be a step up in intensity from usual VFL level, but likely not AFL H&A level.
If we're trying to ease his way back into the level it may be considered a safer strategy, as well as additional weeks of football into his body if we can make it further into the finals.

Just bring him in for the NorF's game and let him drift around as the loose in defence then sub him off in the 3rd quarter

I’m not sure there’s a huge amount to gain by bringing him in before he’s ready. He’s had more than a taste of AFL footy so he knows the standard and what it takes

Let him build at his own time through the VFL and if that means no senior footy this year I don’t think he’s any worse for that

It’s interesting to see how we go about doing this. He deserves one game in the seniors, even if he doesn’t play. No big deal.

Whats the rush to throw him into the seniors hes not tearing it up in the ressies.

Just let him run around and get him through to pre season with a little better conditioning to have him ready to rumble come 2026.

Id be so piusssed if they throw him a token game just so he can get get an injury in the last round against Geecheat who beat us by 12-15 goals anyway.

The kid is coming from a long way back after 2 years out of the game and still has doubts about his reliability in his body
Just build him slowly and managed playing time at a slower pace until he gets his confidence back in both his body and game and if its this year fine but if not then in 2026

I really dont care how he plays
Just sh!tting myself he gets injured again

just about happy to pull the pin on this year for him and give him the next 5 months off

You made these three posts about him in the space of 12 hours.
Either you want to bring him in for the Norf game as a token selection to run around, give him 5 months off or build him up slowly.
Can you make up your mind?
