Not all small forwards need elite pace, would rather skills and football iq sometimes. Think Stephan milne, ballantyne etc even eddie betts doesn’t have elite speed. By no means Cahill is slow either he can move.

I’m not trying to be too negative. At 179cm he isn’t even that small just thought it was worth mentioning.

Speed is always good but clean hands are the keys to success as a small forward. The slower ones buy time by being super clean.

Being genuinely two sides also helps.

Speed is great but those are good enough can compensate.

The most important physical attribute for a small forward is lateral movement. The ability to quickly shift to the ball once it hits the ground off a pack is important, and also to get in and out of traffic.

Thought he would debut this week - he's got enough attributes to cut it at AFL level - Is he the second Cahill to play for EFC after Terry Cahill from the 1970's
3rd.

Don't you remember Bill from the 30's?

Looking forward to the two former team mates debuting tomorrow night. Was all for the dogs getting Cahill if we didn't get a small with our first.
Cahill while not being the fasted has enough speed to get him out of trouble and is quick to burst onto a spilt ball. Great week to debut him given dogs don't man their defenders to closely smart/fast smalls tend to hurt us on the rebound
