It’s such a shame you can’t watch the first one anywhere- there’s only expensive second hand dvds available, and I can no longer be stuffed watching pirated content. The decision to film on a digital camera must have cost them a fortune in residuals.

1:47... Jeez that looks like Cillian Murphy

According to its Internet Movie Database entry Cillian IS back as 'Jim"

Ok good so I wasn't the only one lol. Glad he's not just a throwaway zombie
Look, I thought the same as you too especially when those reviewing the trailer saying it looked/was Murphy.

I saw it last night and was a little disappointed, it wasn't bad but wasn't what I was expecting. I was so hyped after seeing the trailer and loved the first film but this one was much more a drama movie with horror elements than a straight horror. The second half especially is much more character based and I guess setting up future sequels, I wish it was more of the first half of the film which had more of what I was expecting.
Solid 6/10 for me but not the masterpiece I was hoping for.

Also is pretty much ignores anything that happens in 28 weeks later and is more direct continuation to 28 days later.

Thanks for the heads up. Was going to do a rewatch before heading in. Might just watch 28 days instead,

I found the plot quite nonsensical. Danny Boyle throws in some imagery of medieval archers, WWII and fire but it doesn't really connect so they come off as gimmicks. There's also some quirky pieces of soundtrack but it just adds to the movie feeling tonally inconsistent. It's almost like these elements were added to make a great trailer. The performances are all good. Alfie Williams, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson. It picks up when Ralph Fiennes appears but it's too little, too late. The ending also feels tacked on, like it's a lead in to a sequel.

5/10

Ripping movie. So well acted by everyone honestly. Ralph Finnes cameo having shades of Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now was unexpected but awesome. The very final part of the movie was good, I feel like it's making fun of the ridiculousness and Marvel-ness of it all and it's probably hard to really analyse or comment on too much without having seen the future context of it. It could mean anything from
A gang of people dressed like the Teletubbies, the last form of media Jimmy witnessed before he had to desert his previous life, or it's more of a comment on Jimmy Saville and possibly the myth of British (and general) folklore and culture. But I am ****ing here for Jack O'Connell playing an evil son of a bitch, bonus points because I look like him.

I would agree with all that, except I didn't think the performances were all that good. I'd still give it a pass at 5/10.

Just all up a bit meh, which was a real shame.

The ending was like

Just the reason why the stupid kid left the island, like come on. And I don't quite understand the reason for the initial trip over there, just to kill a few and come on back?

The entire storyline should have been overhauled. And more character development/stuff happening on the island.
