I get in little daydreams from time to time about how lucky I am to watch my absolute favourite player, Brent "Boomer" Harvey STILL do what he does week in week out.

I know I probably sound like a broken record, but the bloke is an absolute freak.

We are truly witnessing a legend and the fact he is not slowing down makes me so proud. To have other clubs supporters actually envy the fact we have a little master like Boomer. How much he loves the club and how much he plays for it, most other clubs fans would die for this guy just for what he means to North.

We are in the presence of a true superstar and a genuine legend bloke.

Enjoy it.

Not many will put up the numbers he is at 36...
I doubt Ablett would be getting those figures at that age.
Especially after carrying the midfield for near on 10yrs.

The guy needs to be commended for being so driven to help this club through the tough times.
Hopefully he is the connection from one golden era to the next.

Love ya Boomer

I think it's counter-productive to include his age when discussing his game.

His form and output is elite no matter if he's 36 or 26. I actually think he'd be All Australian this year if he was ten years younger, but because people say 'oh he's as old as the hills' it tends to shift the focus away from how good his form purely is.

Well Said. Can't agree more.

He loves the club as much or even more than we do as fans. That kind of passion is wearing off onto the younger players, we always talk about how we continue to sign players, I have no doubt in my mind that a lot of that could be to do with Boomer's passion and the standard he's set for others to follow his path of being that one club, beloved hero type player.

And yet Fletcher probably gets 'due' attention ... sniff.

Still, let them ignore him. He'll make them pay one way or another.

When the day comes that the little champ plays his last game we must keep him at the club in some kind of significant role, whether coaching or development. His professionalism is the stuff of legend and must be passed on.

Give him a role like Scully's old man ... except we won't need to pay his son undeserved salaries to 'justify' it.

Good thread. I was watching a replay a few months ago of a North v Hawks game from '97 at Waverley and it was mentioned in the commentary that it was Boomer's third game. He kicked a classic Boomer dodge weave dodge goal and just looked terrific but the thing that marked him as a future champion came when a high kick demanded his steely resolve. He parked under the ball and waited as three Hawk monsters made a bee line for him, he didn't flinch or take his eyes off the ball and duly took the chest mark as the Hawk goons stumbled over each other. Just brilliant.
Actually this game was interesting for a few other things. We now know about Schwatter's problems and it was evident in this game as he kicked 4 goals but was more interested in fighting after each goal than celebrate. He just seemed to be very angry.
I've listened to Daniel Harford regularly on the radio at SEN but must admit his , not inconsiderable footy career, barely registered a blimp on my footy radar! In this game he showed himself to be a creative and well skilled footy player. Kicked a nice opportunistic goal on his left. Number 38 for Hawthorn was also interesting, a very angry ant who disputed anything and everything that went against him or his team- one Brad Scott .

Definitely. Was thinking the same after the West Coast game. In seasons past Crowley and Selwood would have probably gotten the better of him. This year he's putting taggers to the sword.

The reason he s so drivin is because he is a tight ass and wants to milk as much coin from his career as possible.... he will be going well into his 40's, just thinking about buying a new flat screen gets him going for 10 games at least!!! let a lone a new mini cooper..... :p
