NORTH! 2016,2017,2018.
Just a pure gun! The reason why I fell more and more in love with North when I was a little Brett33.

Things that annoy me:

  • The age thing pisses me off. Commentators use it as a back handed compliment. Who gives a shit what age he is. He's tearing it up. All through the Geelong game they were questioning whether he'd go around again...just shut up for a second and talk about how he is ripping them to pieces.
  • Supporters who want to push him into the sub role. Get stuffed. He can be the sub when he's 40. At the moment he runs out games better than 99.99% of the league,
  • Idiots who call him selfish (mostly jealous opposition supporters). When you are as good as he is with the ball why would you not want it in his hands?! Also Ablett does it all the time, what's the difference there? I'd rather him dance around 18 opposition players than Petrie kicking from 50 out. Why? because Boomer does what the **** he wants.

Other teams supporters continually taking pot shots at him really f***en shits me! The guy is an absolute jet! After Carey, the second best player I have seen to pull on a NM jumper. People say it is no good to rely on somebody so old, but I think it is just a testament to how good he really is. To do what he does and has been doing for a long time is just remarkable!! Hope we get a couple more years out of the little champ. He deserves another flag! I reckon if you cut him with a knife, he would bleed blue n white!

Imagine how good he'll be when he grows up!

On SEN's pre-game show tonight they were discussing the HoF the other night, and the subject turned to "who, of the current players, will be an automatic inclusion to the AFL HoF?"

The first couple of callers rang in with suggestions which sparked debate amongst the panel. Then one called in to say "Brent Harvey!" to which Dermie's response couldn't have been more succinct. "Straight in", he said, "of that there's no doubt!" The panel agreed unanimously, likewise with G. Ablett Jnr.

He's a superstar is our Boomer and has been since year one.

He is one of the few players who I am in absolute awe of. Just when I think he can't go to the well again and do any more, he just keeps on keeping on.
If he gets to 400 it will be the biggest thing at North since the 99 flag.
Absolutely colossal achievment

If??? Ummmm he is getting to 400 in a canter. This might sound silly, and definitely sound over the top, but on current form, he plays at least next year, and the year after, and then possibly the sub specialist the year after that. He looks fitter and stronger than ever.

Agreed, he looks fantastic at the moment, and on current form would give Tucky's tally a very good nudge - but nothing but death and taxes is certain in life.

I'll be gutted if Fletcher gets to 400 first. If he plays every game this season hell finish 399. Surely he can't go around again. He is embarrassing hiding in a pocket without an opponent atm.

Why would you be gutted? Fletch has been a superstar, and rest assured that Boomer has him well covered. The great thing for me is that when Boomer breaks Tucks record, he will then be spoken about with real reverence from the whole of the football community. The tide has already begun to turn on this, but by the time he is done...... There will be no doubt from anyone on how amazing he has been.

Fletch hasn't been a superstar since 2011 - he has been phoning in games since the mid 300s.
Boomer is still charging like a bull

Big difference in the outputs of Fletcher and Boomer. Boomer still in the best handful in the league and a genuine game changer. Fletcher just trying to play a role that seems to get less importance by the year.

Averaging 26 disposals a match at 77.7%, 1.2 goals, 2.8 bounces, 2 clearances a match all at the ripe young age of 36. Ridiculously good. It was interesting about a year ago on the main board comparisons were made between him and the likes of Crawford, Riccuto, Buckley, Voss etc and not many people rated him overly highly at all.

Very different player to those listed... I would argue more damaging, and as it has turned out more enduring.

Agreed on all the above, but sheeeesh, this is a Boomer appreciation page, not a slag off Fletch page. The dude has had amazing longevity. Doesn't make me appreciate Boomer more or less by comparing him to Fletcher.
Not slagging Fletch, just think Boomers longevity is more substantial due to his output. Same argument could be made for many who dragged out their careers. Brad Johnson, Robert Harvey, Doug Hawkins all played for one or two seasons too long and these blokes were dead set superstars of the game.

I hate Fletcher cause he plays for *, but he's been bloody enormous for * for years and years.......there's no hiding on an AFL field. He's rarely been beaten his whole career and played on some of the greatest forwards in the history of the game. Ya don't play 390 odd games and be average.

deadset legend. don't think i will ever look up to another sportsmen like i have boomer. I ran out with the roos at the Gabba in 2003 and one thing that still sticks out to me is how how good of a bloke him, shagga, drew and colbert were. Got a lot of good memories to thank those 4 for.
