He's still got his pace, burned off Hill last night so no issues there.
It would be nice if he used this pace defensively on the odd occasion.

Absolutely refused to chase or run to pick up loose players last night.

You just can't have that from a defender, stands out like dogs balls.

He wasn't the only one, Thomas didn't chase at times either.

There was a couple of moments last night that were terrible. One particular marking contest comes to mind. He could have easily got there to at least try and impact but instead just jogged towards him and then stood the mark

I'm really lost for words.

Scott can say "Boomer is a really good defender" all he wants, but it doesn't change the fact that we have one of the most dangerous players in the comp in the league in terms of setting up goals and moving the ball into our fwd 50, and yet we're playing him in the backline.

It's ******* depressing to see this continue.

The opposition must just be pissing themselves with laughter that one of the most damaging users of the ball is playing off half back.

Saw that as well. Couldn't believe it either. Needs to go back to HFF asap!

Higgins effectiveness minus Wells and Dal Santo is worse than he at the Bulldogs.
There is no point Boomer clearing our defence but then the kick that goes into the 50 is shithouse and we get caned on the rebound with the ball sailing over our heads time and time again.

Correct. But Boomer's not a defender. We've known for 20 years he doesn't defend. So lets play him as a defender.

Can someone please tell Brad.

What experiments do u think of? Because Scott is very set and doesn't like to experiment much at all
Three talls in the forward line (Petire, Tarrant, Hansen) was a pretty good one and has become a cornerstone of how our team plays. The later decisions to throw Hansen back, and now to do the same with Tarrant, have turned out pretty well also. Jack Ziebell as a forward. Contrary to popular opinion Scott is a coach who likes to experiment and try new things, just not a coach who does things on whim - I think he tends to put a lot of thought into his experiments before he tries them, and then he tends to stick with them for a fair while before making a decision on them going forward. Maybe a bit too long on both, but still. Hopefully five weeks is enough for him to realise the Boomer in the backline experiment is not one of his better ones.

I want him to help rectify one of our greatest failings this year thus far, our poxy delivery inside forward 50 to the forwards. Lace out on the tit to Brown, Petrie, Waite, Thomas et al and I'll be far happier than I was watching chaos balls (not a porno star's name afaik) delivered Sat night.

I can only assume that with Dal Santo out injured they've picked Harvey to play the deep lying playmaker role which, a bit like communism and threesomes, seems to work best in theory.
We definitely need to use Harvey in the position where he's best suited. If McDonald comes back in I wouldn't mind seeing Sammy Wright playing loose across half back. Reads the play well and can kick.

Point of interest.

Since they started recording the statistic, Boomer has had the most I50s of anyone. Ever. In history. He also has the third-most goal assists in history since they started recording them.

Why the **** were we playing him in the backline? It does not make sense.
