He's on 461 goals. Needs 39 more to get to 500.

16 more games this year.

39/16= 2.5

Needs
9 bags of 2 = 18
7 bags of 3 = 21
=39

Being the optimist that I am, I think the little champ can achieve this no matter where Brad plonks him.

Point of interest.

Since they started recording the statistic, Boomer has had the most I50s of anyone. Ever. In history. He also has the third-most goal assists in history since they started recording them.

Why the **** were we playing him in the backline? It does not make sense.
Was saying this since he got moved back. I thought it was most goal assists since 2007, just in front of GAj?

Who does have the most goal assists FG?

Its not looking like an crap decision, its looking like the bloke that threw him on the HBF had been through a frontal lobe lobotomy...

He'd be a whole lot closer had he not been locked in the back half for the first six weeks of the season.
last 4 season stats:
114 goals / 83 games = 1.37 goal/game

So should now have (Rd) 6 * 1.37 = 8.24 goals

he has 3.

so 16 * 1.37 = 22 goals in the home and away to come in 2015, based off past 4 season stats

that would have im on 483 heading into finals.

489 if the hbf experiment never took place.

will be a stretch, needs a few 4 goal bags to get it done.

Going off that and allowing for a bag here and there will have between 520-540 when he breaks Tucky's record.

Happy 37th birthday Boomer!!

Veteran Brent Harvey says he can offer flexibility in both defence and attack, but feels he can be “most dangerous” in his customary forward role.

RELATED: Harvey player profile

Harvey, who turned 37 on Thursday, spent most of the early rounds generating run from the half-back line but was deployed to forward half against Richmond last Saturday.

Harvey said he relished playing further up the ground against the Tigers – a position he has carved out a successful AFL career.

"It wasn’t as nerve-racking as the previous three weeks where I’ve been down back," Harvey told NMFC.com.au on Thursday.

"Just going in there and doing what I have for the last 15 years was good and so was playing alongside Lindsay (Thomas), Robbie Nahas, Drew (Petrie), (Jarrad) Waite for the first time for a while and Ben Brown’s been on fire.

"That’s where I’m at my most dangerous, kicking the ball inside 50 and setting up the goals or dishing it off."

Harvey knows his attacking traits can complement his ability to play across the half-back line, especially when there are casualties.

"If we’ve got a couple of injuries like we did previously with Luke McDonald and Jamie Macmillan being out, there’s a role there where I can play across half-back," he said.

The 390-gamer said he was always confident he would be able to make his presence felt this season, but never thought he would still be playing well into his 30s.

"When I first started my career, I didn’t think I’d be playing until I was 37," he said.

"If you asked me last year I would’ve said, ‘Yeah, definitely’ but if you asked me when I was 23, 24 or 25, probably not.

"There’s not too many blokes that have played 20 years of football so the odds would’ve been against me."

Harvey’s 37th birthday celebrations have been put on hold, with Friday night’s encounter against Essendon at the forefront of his thoughts.

"It [his birthday] is no different than any other day. I got a bit more of a welcome when I woke up this morning from the kids which was good," Harvey said.

"Leading into a game, I’m just concentrating on that more than my birthday."

The 167cm livewire said North is expecting a tight tussle against the Bombers, particularly in the wake of the World Anti-Doping Authority’s decision to appeal over the 2012 supplements program.

"They’re a very good team when their back’s against the wall, especially with all the stuff that’s happened earlier this week; they’re going to be pumped up again," he said.

"I’m certain the club and the coach will draw on something and they’ll be ready to go to put on a good show."

Harvey, who is the second-oldest AFL player behind Dustin Fletcher, lauded Fletcher’s longevity in the game ahead of what is expected to be his 398th AFL appearance.

"He’s been so durable and a great player," Harvey said.

"(He’s) always someone that plays well against us."

Play the guy with nearly 500 goals across almost 400 games with the most inside 50s of any man in history plus the second most goal assists in history in the forward half.

Incredible.

Hopefully the return of our halfback flankers, including the continued development of Jacobs and Two Dogs, means he (and I cannot believe I'm writing this sentence) spends more time up forward. :drunk:

One of the most stupid decisions I've seen by a coach to play Boomer down back. Thankfully he saw the light last week and when back as a fwd/mid Boomer was back to his best.

Why you would ever play a match winner like him in that position just confirms for me how Scotts thinks. Next thing he'll play Scotty Thompson at full forward

Be a very sad day when Boomer retires. I'll then be older than any current North Melbourne player and forced to accept that despite my obvious gifts I will now be considered highly unlikely to ever play a game for this mighty club.
I've been trying to come to terms with that myself for years already shinte, being 10 years older than Boomer.

Realistically, how far can he go?

Was thinking about this earlier.

It seems a fait accompli that he'll go around again next year, having not mentioned anything about retirement etc at all this year.

End of 2016? End of 2017? I can see him having two more years, but if I had a gun to my head, I'd say next year will be his last.

Assuming he plays every game for the rest of the year (without finals) and all games next year (without finals), he'll finish up on 428.

Add 3-4 finals each year and he'll push 435.

I reckon he'll go to 2017.

It'll depend on how the team is tracking.

If we win a flag in 15 and or 16 he'll retire, if we don't but we're looking like winning one in 17 I think he'll do whatever it takes to be a part of it and no one deserves it more.

Deadset gun and club champion.

I'm not so convinced he can go on next year.

His output has dropped markedly from last season and his pace has clearly dropped off.

He shits me a times when he calls for the ball when he is not on.

At the moment, we're still a better team with him. But it can drop away dramatically at anytime.

He's playing in the wrong position for starters.
