I'm not so convinced he can go on next year.

His output has dropped markedly from last season and his pace has clearly dropped off.

He shits me a times when he calls for the ball when he is not on.

At the moment, we're still a better team with him. But it can drop away dramatically at anytime.

I'm not sure that I've ever agreed with anything you have posted....

A quote from a North player that sums up Boomer's 'retirement' possibilities - "If no-one knew his age, no-one would even think he’d be close to retiring."

Had a quiet few weeks to start to the year but has been good returning up forward in the last fortnight.

When we have someone who offers more than him in the forward role that he has played in the last couple of years then that day may come. At the moment he's still the best half forward at the club and still one of the best on the league. It's not an indictment on us that no one will step up and take his place but an indication of his incredible ability and longevity. For this reason he's still in our best 10 players, maybe 5 if he continues his form over from the last 2 weeks.

I don't think this post is that far off the mark.

There was a point on Friday when he got tackled by an Essendon player whilst going for one his trademark sprints, in which a year ago he would have easily burnt him off. Stuck out for me that maybe the body is not as sharp as the mind is.

I think he'll play next year, but he's clearly not playing near the same level as he used to.

Rediculous. So without his pace, worthless? lol

Would give backmen nightmares if we plonked him forward full time. Simple as that.

He got caught last year in the Gold Coast game by Sam Day if memory serves me correctly. It's bound to happen to every player once in a while.

I think he has lost half a yard or so. But still has the ability to win games, just not as often as he used to. But if the opposition choose not to pay him the attention he deserves, they will do so at their peril!!!!

Came in here expecting to read some positive posts about boomer and perplexed to see some posters thinking he's not playing well and doesn't look the same. He got chased down once, seriously who cares!! Happens to all the great players. I actually came in here to post that i think he had an underrated last quarter. I was watching him closely at the ground and I thought he noticeably lifted in the last quarter when the game was on the line, demanded the ball in damaging areas, used it effectively and actually did some solid defensive efforts. Very happy he's being used more in the forward half now than he was in the first 5 rounds.

Seems as though as I watching a different game though after the previous comments I just read. Hopefully someone agrees with me so I'm not losing my mind!

He's been forced into the backline for most of this season. Since playing more forward in the last two games, he's averaging 21 disposals and a 1.5 goals a game. That's decent but it's from a very small set of data. If he keeps playing forward, I have faith that he'll keep backing his performances up.

I didn't say that, but his pace is his biggest weapon and he's looked noticeably slower to me this season.

Lets be honest, he's not tearing apart games like he used to.

Last year there was probably a half dozen game where he would have been BOG. This year I wouldn't say he's been our best in any and I wouldn't say that's all because he's being played out of position.

We could play him forward for his last few years and leave him to get 10-15 possiess a game and 1-2 goals, but I think the days of Boomer getting 30 possies and 2-3 goals a game and utterly destroying teams are almost over.

He's only really played 2 games this season in his best position after the perplexing decision to play him down back. Give him a chance. :)
