Player Watch #29: Shai Bolton - What an absolute jet!

Thought a few games in a row, and the development that must have come from time in the traffic of the VFL midfield, had really turned things around for Bolton. Sad to see him dropped. Don't want to see Rioli out, but if he is sore, maybe Bolton as a late in to play on a wing would be fun.

Bolton getting dropped tells us something about the Selection Committee’s priorities, IMO. Georgie laid 8 tackles last week. Baker – 4. Bolton – 2. Any would have been stiff to be dropped, but someone has to make way for Riewoldt.

Carlton should be heavily into him. Feels like the depth chart at Richmond for his position is insurmountable at this stage.
He just turned twenty and is on the verge of breaking into a best 22 that will be contending for a premiership over the next couple of years. He’s still very raw and undeveloped physically, so he’s the obvious choice to make way for a three times Coleman medalist when we have a four day turnaround. From all reports, he has a very strong relationship with all of the indigenous boys at the club and is rated super highly internally. He isn’t going anywhere.

Dan Butler is the one who has fallen out of favour and may look for opportunities elsewhere.

Bolton is very unlikely to make it at Richmond

He lacks the one thing that Dimma insists on.

Intensity

He is young, quick and has X facrot, but his lack of maniacal pressure at the contest means he will always be the last promoted, and the first dropped.

Look at our team guys. He is the least physically developed player amongst all of them. No way he could back up and play seniors again in 4 days.
Really noticed just how slight shai Bolton is
Sat few rows behind the bench, on Saturday night,, he was blowing up every time he came off, still a long term prospect, still think he will make it

Rubbish. He had five tackles against Port Adelaide and his intensity and defensive pressure was outstanding. Fell off a bit against Sydney but people keep forgetting that he just turned twenty and he’s still very undersized for an AFL player. When he fills out and gains confidence in his body, he will be a star. He has enormous potential.

Yep. Has a lot of talent and is unlucky not to be playing tonight, but agree his lack of tank is still an issue. He’s always gassed it seems. You probably should be at times but he just seems overly so to me.

4 day turn around as well
