Watched some of his games in the VFL this year. Fair to say there is not much call for slowish, neat footballers anymore. Looked like a real prospect in Year 1 but never developed from there.

While we could find reasons to give Will one more year (even though those reasons are more around our lack of midfield depth than Will's career prospects and talent), ultimately, I think it's pretty clear that Will would be at best a break-glass option, and that's for a shit bottom 3 side, mind you.

Hey Uncle_Leo, I think your being a wee bit harsh on the young man, I mean he's had so many setbacks in his short career + the ill-fated illness that many athletes don't recover fully from, if that had not have happened who knows, but it did and really only being able to play mid probably didn't help his cause, the actual draft selection was okay, if you look at that draft its turning into a bit of a horror show, we liked Elijah Hollands, how did that turn out? We have made some bad draft selections over the years, but this is not one of them. All recruiters know that sometimes you get it wrong and sometimes the players you choose don't go on the next level for a variety of reasons, that is life, you move on and don't dwell on it.

Between 2001 & now our club has had the most 1st round selections of any AFL side ever.

We should be a dynastic premiership side by now, besides Wells & Sheezel we’ve managed to flunk every single last one of ‘em.

Love Will. Ripping person, always up for interacting with fans, but I think it was the right call to move on.
I had hoped this year was going to be different, as he told me he was in ripping nick after an uninterrupted preseason, but it looks like he just couldn't get over those illnesses to be able to run hard in transition and be damaging enough with his ball use like most modern mids. I wish him all the best. Hope he gets a fresh start somewhere else and enjoys his footy.
