Phillips has 50% game time in 2nd half. ends with overall 63% game time 20 possessions 8 clearances.

Plays one more game, dropped and delisted.

Meanwhile the grand final is won by clearance and good ball use oriented team annihilating the supposed new archetype of fast midfield receivers (Bailey, Holmes, Dempsey)

Doesn’t compute other than by reference to our overall disastrous list management, lack of any clear strategy.

Love Will. Ripping person, always up for interacting with fans, but I think it was the right call to move on.
I had hoped this year was going to be different, as he told me he was in ripping nick after an uninterrupted preseason, but it looks like he just couldn't get over those illnesses to be able to run hard in transition and be damaging enough with his ball use like most modern mids. I wish him all the best. Hope he gets a fresh start somewhere else and enjoys his footy.

At least he tried. We’ve had so many on our list over the years that give zero f’s about running the other way.

His effort was why I liked him and why I think he deserved a spot.

Oh well. If I’m correct about him, he’ll go elsewhere and have a good career.

There’s no lateral thinking at this shit truck of a football club. Phillips either had to prove he could negate someone like Cosi Pickett or Daicos, or not play at all.

How the f*** does that work? “You either prove you’re better than their best player or you don’t play at all”..? Give me a spell. And the soft as shit players we’ve persisted with over the years, blokes who don’t run both ways, blokes picked on potential, on coaches infatuations etc. I can’t even. I’ll always prefer someone who’s limited but tries his heart out over someone who is gifted but picks/chooses when to put in the effort.

This one hurts. I see what is clearly a quality bloke that could never replicate his underage form and several "what if's" that have played a part in it, specifically what if they stopped speeding the game up and if he didn't get glandular fever? Could probably justify another what if in the form of asking about how he was used in the seniors too tbh.

The outcome is equally frustrating and sad, but as has already been said it's a fast and cruel sport and we move on. Best of luck to the man.
