Was a big Will fan, but can't say anything about our selection of him at 3. Was rated to go in top 6.
As others have pointed out only a few hits in the first 20 that year. I am sure we would gone thilthorpe if he was there at 3. Holmes at 20 would have been great, but a stretch at 3.

As for people saying he was a shit footballer you are just wrong. Lacked fitness yes. We can argue why this was so, but shit player that's a lot of crap!

Really sad. One of my real favourites.

Complete professional, mature and had a real love for the club - and seemingly was great to have round the club. Stayed and fought for his spot and deserved to succeed.

Compare this to the attitudes and behaviours of some others we've seen in recent times.

Really hope Will gets another crack somewhere and I'll be looking forward to seeing what comes next for him. Feel like the organisation will lose something with his departure.

About half of them last played for us over 5 years ago. Paul Ahern on the list twice.

The first five on your list were better AFL players than Will, too (and I was a big Kayno knocker), as were a few of the others.

Even if he was no closer to the senior team despite six solid weeks of VFL, there he’d be near the front row in the rooms at the coach’s address with a massive smile on his face taking every word in with the best attitude you’ve ever seen.

Yeah seems a great young fella, and yes he wasn't on his own. The number of guys not good enough is reducing, although we now have a few unknowns, this will no doubt come out in the wash in 26

TT was an academy rort to begin with, we traded JHF for Wardlaw and Goad, and everyone else taken in 2020 was a bust anyway. Whatever.

I agree, I'm not saying we shouldn't be critical of things at the club but our high pick drafting is a silly thing to focus on, especially those 3 examples where really only Will was taken higher than he deserved, JHF didn't want to stay and we got fair value, and TT destroyed his own life but from what I can tell the club did everything they could to get him on a better path, and any other club would've taken him given the opportunity.
