Our batting is beyond disappointing,

They had one job to do and yet they stuff it up.
Just look at the averages of our batsmen. They can hardly be expected to suddenly turn into players that they are not.

It would be good to see either Smith or Hughes come out of this series with a lot of improvement. So far not much to show though I thought Hughes played beautifully with Agar at TB.

Edit: Classic example in Watson. It's basically a fantasy with him. He can't score big in test cricket but somehow he was meant to? In the Ashes?
