Here are the team changes for our team to take on (and defeat) the Tigers this weekend...

In: Croft, Shaggy & K-Mac
Out: Harris (susp) Ray & Power (both omitted)

Woulda left Ray in cos he didn't really get much of a go and this sort of thing could be bad for the young bloke's confidence... not to mentioned he did OK in the Wizza Cup against the Tiges at the beginning of the year in his first game for us.

Agree with Power cos he needs a spell and K-Mac has been in good form with the Bees and while we need a replacement for Harris I wouldn't have brought Crofty back in... woulda gone with Skipper or Wiggo (both deserve their chances after some consistent performances with the Bees.)

Is this confirmed? Ray out? Why did he bring him in for?

Yeah, this is the team to be announced later today...

Like you, i am also at a loss to understand why Ray has been dropped after a half-decent showing last Fri night. If it wasn't for a hospital handpass from Bassett (IIRC) when he first came on (which woulda shaken him up a bit) I thought he looked lively and got enough of the ball to stay in the team.

How the mind boggles at the rationale behind team selections!

Why the hell would Rhode drop Ray, he was on the ground for like 20 minutes, how many possesions did he expect him to rack up, he cant expect to have any confiedence now.

Our team looks way to slow now.

Farren will be up and down like yo-yo this year. Match committees worry about strength & stamina.
Good to see Hargrave and McGuinness back.
This fortnight might be Crofty's farewell so feast your eyes...

If this is the team for Saturday, you can expect a letter from the bulldogs telling you NOT to do it again!
How did you gather this information????

Sorry guys... have just been informed that this is not infact the team... my source was incorrect for a change.

Sorry to disappoint - won't happen again (I promise)

Hopefully this means that Ray is still in the team!:p

Yeah... you could say that I suppose! :D

It's the usual story...the person who gave me the info knows someone at the club and said this is what they have been told is the team for the game.

Have since spoken to them and said it has not been confirmed one way or the other.

Sorry for wasting everyone's time... although I am bored and need something to do! ;)

So messing with people's emotions is fun for you? Is it? Not good form Jimmy, not good form.

This may still be close to the mark. At least 2 of the outs look right, with Ray unlucky.

Re ins - can see a conservative coaching panel retaining Harrison and elevating Croft. Other 2 have been in good form, but it leave us a little demi-tall and slow.

With Birss injured, McMahon out of form and question marks over Cross which other midfielder could we bring in?

I agree with another poster to consider Rawlings at FB, leave Ray in and be brave and give Minson a go. With Darcy/Minson & Hargrave/Bowden up forward, we 'd still hjave some interesting firepower.

Great guess Jimmy#5 !!!

Pretty happy with the ins it gives us the height we will need against the tigers whos team takes on a completely different look with Richo and Stafford back in the side.Dissapointing to see Ray out but I suppose it was a team balance issue. He will be back!

"Lord" what did the Bulldogs do to get this Hack of a coach

The back line has been pretty strong this year, not just harris, I think your under selling basset. While I dont agree that ray was given a fair go, I would prefer to see Crofty in than ray against the tigers. maybe he can dish off a few retirement hits, he never minded dropping the knee against the full back, I'd recon richo would be good to be physically challanged (1 week back from a hammy). From memory him and browny were never best of friends, would be a nice day to find out for sure.

Good to see McGuinness in the side finally. IMO, it was a bit too early to bring Shaggy back in..but i guess he gives us another option for Richo. I hope they both get plenty of game time...though it would by typical if they spent nearly the whole game on the interchange bench. I think too many of our players are playing the full match. Possibly explains why we have faded a bit in the last quarters this year. I am disappointed that Ray was dropped. I don't think team balance is a good enough reason...surely you need to have more of a long term vision. Shouldn't hurt him really, but he would learn more if given a few weeks at least...then think about sending him back to Werribee with some things to work on.

Geez, whas basset done wrong? settle down...

And get over Ray... Richmond has a lot of tall forward options to contend with (shultz, morrison, ottens, stafford, richo) , but a very suspect/short defence. We want to hold our own defensively, and stretch their defence at the same time. Thats the reason for bringing in the two extra talls for two young guys that in all probability werent going to have much impact on the game anyway.

Cant see Croft on Richo, but he could be one to play on resting ruckman, or there is the option to plant himsef in the goal square. We sent in a lot of bombs against essendon, for very little return in terms of crumbed goals... maybe the theory is we need bigger, defensively minded players up forward so that the crumbers have more of a chance.

And look on the bright side kids, with Kmac and Basset and Hargreave down back, there cant be any reason to play Murph in defence, can there?

. Match committees worry about strength & stamina

Attention Walsh Bay:

Did you see the way the players were 10 minutes before 1/2 time?

Strength and stamina were not there late in the second quarter. Why not actually use some fresh players with speed to break it up?

Using just one for the last 2 minutes wasn't going to do much because he was surrounded by tired players, leaving no support to build up anything and take advantage of that part of the game!

You got me bloody-redhead - didn't see last week's game live. Not surprised to hear it though.
I'm just flailing around looking for the usual justifications match committees trot out for dropping kids.

Friday night was Bobbys best game for some time.

I would also like to see him play midfield but it seems to me that he hasn't found anywhere else where is consistent apart from the backline yet.

He seems to drift out of the play when not in the backline.

And really he should and will play where he is needed as its a team game
