Player Watch #3: Dion Prestia

What chance is Prestia as a bit of a smokey for the Brownlow?

In our wins this year his standout games are:

R5 v Swans - 32 disposals 4 marks 4 tackles 10 I50s 8 clearances
R6 v Dees - 30 disposals 3 marks 6 tackles 4 I50s 10 clearances
R9 v Hawks - 29 disposals 6 marks 1 tackle 4 I50s 5 clearances
R10 v Bombers - 25 disposals 3 marks 6 tackles 10 I50s 4 clearances
R15 v Saints - 29 disposals 5 marks 5 tackles 3 I50s 4 clearances
R16 v Suns - 28 disposals 4 marks 9 tackles 4 I50s 8 Clearances
R17 v Giants - 24 disposals 3 marks 4 tackles 5 clearances
R18 v Port - 30 disposals 6 marks 4 tackles 5 I50s 6 clearances
R19 v Pies - 35 disposals 4 marks 4 tackles 6 I50s 8 clearances
R20 v Dees - 31 disposals 6 marks 7 I50s 4 clearances
R21 v Blues - 35 disposals 3 marks 4 tackles 9 I50s 11 clearances
R22 v Eagles - 29 disposals 4 marks 5 tackles 5 clearances
R23 v Lions - 30 disposals 4 tackles 4 I50s 4 clearances

That's 13 games where statistically Prestia had a pretty good impact with a lot of the work being done under the noses of the umpires via clearances/tackles. If he was to poll 2 votes in each of those games that would be 26 votes, which in most years would put him right in the mix.

I jumped on him at $501 after R16, but Dusty's return to form has effectively killed off his chances IMO.

Whenever I see this thread high up on the Richmond board I take a deep breath and check to see if Prestia's been injured.

On his Brownlow chances, I think he's you classic 1-2 vote accumulator. Might get 12-15 votes. To win the Brownlow, you need to be an absolute standout these days.

YEAH True, our unrelenting, non negotiable system based style means he's very rarely 1st or 2nd BOG on the ground but always 3-6th.

Another massive final for the human meatball 28 disposals 13 contested 7 clearances 5 tackles 9 inside 50’s 3 goal assists 2 goals 9 score involvements 78%de

Pick 6 bargain

Something has clicked with Prestia the second half of the year and he has exploded. I've always said pick 6 was overs (but worth it for the flag alone) but if this is his output for the next 3-4 years he is absolutely worth it on his own.
He had a terrible run with injuries and hadnt really done a pre season until last year apparently. Maybe he is just now trusting his body. Either way it's good to see.

This is exactly the stuff that makes me want to spew....

The guy was vice captain and finished 2nd in their B&F behind ablett, many ppl claim to have watched the GCS but had they??

If they had an one idea about football the only question was about injuries, the guys was and is a absolute jet.

Killed it last night BOG for mine.
