I still thought he was pretty clean overall when he was involved.

I’d rather be worried about getting him more involved (when his natural instinct seems to be to go the ball rather than stay on the outside) than him butchering his disposal when he was involved.

Thought his disposal was decent apart from that finish at goal. He hit his targets.

I don't think you can blame him for inconsistency and not being at the pace when hes dropped every 2nd week.

Give him a run of games and see if he develops imo

Bingo. I'd take Daniher over Stephens in a heartbeat, draft picks are always overrated versus actual historical output

Those are bizarre players to compare him to. Both were absolute locks in their teams in their second season, playing every game, Gaff averaging 24 disposals and Sidebottom averaging 18 disposals and a goal. Sidebottom played in 2 grand finals that year, and Gaff was one of his team's best players in 2 key finals that year.

We'd be absolutely thrilled if Stephens was tracking even remotely similarly.

Gaff played 24 games and averaged 25 disposals in year 2. Worlds ahead of Stephens. Not even sure they’re playing the same game.

Sidebottom had also well and truly established himself as a best 22 player in a better side than we are.
