We kick it to the pockets so that it doesn't come out.
Exactly..... then we try to kick goals fro stoppages.... or win the ball back one the rebound and off load on of our long kicking midfielders to kicks a goal from around the fifty......

we wouldhave to have the worst inside 50 conversion in the AFL....... not that its a bad thing.... if its up our end then its not up their end... hmmmm that doesn't sound right.

My thoughts are - it doesn't matter how many an individual gets - it's how many the team get. It probably makes us predictable in that opposition clubs know that those 3 are our key 'deliver-ers' into the 50, and so can plan for them, they know where they run, they know where they like to kick etc. We need to get Conca, Foley, Martin, etc sharing the load.

It's like goal-kicking - generally better to have a spread, than one or two superstars. Remember all those Lockett-led Saints teams in the late 80s that finished way down.

I actually think 'Inside-50s' and 'Rebound-50s' are one of the most useless stats in the game - just because there is a line on the field doesn't make a disposal more important. 'Goal assists' is another. A defensive spoil on the full-back line can be a goal assist. Why don't we have 'Cross the centre-line' stats, or 'Bringing the ball back to the corridor' stats.

They are also meant to be three of our best kicks so why aren' they hitting more tits.

Surely a good tactic would be to hit a forward with a few more direct kicks rather than always hitting the pockets - and why wouldn't we hit the top of the square, more dangerous and not that much more a difficult area to lock in.

This annoys the hell out of me. When guys are right on the edge of their range (or beyond it) going for goal when the percentage play has to be the top of the square (forgetting the pockets altogether for a second). The number of times you see the ball either miss badly or get killed by defenders for a rushed behind when players don't make the distance by a few metres is ridiculous especially in this day and age of coaching the crap out of everything and playing percentages.

The exceptions to this rule of course would be Ben Griffiths and Dustin Martin....they can have a shot from anywhere they like.

the constant leading to the pockets by Jack also frustrates me.....
