All depends on how we do this year I think, if we make top 6 at end of H&A, we will probably challenge for top 4 next year and will need depth in case of injuries.
If Cunnington was to go down with injury, we'd be screwed as our inside ball winning is pretty thin. I wouldn't want to see Ziebell in the middle again as he is much more useful up forward.

It was why I was such a big advocate of picking up a mature age ball winner as a rookie last year. i.e Bailey Banfield or Matt Hanson.

He should have been given the coin and extension.
Nah, he got ahead of himself. He played one good season after North were patient with him. He owed North more then North owed him. He should’ve taken the offer. I’m glad he’s not on our list because he can’t get on the park, and when he does he’s just a bit player. Jacobs>Levi. Anderson>Levi. Gibson>Levi. The only players on our current 22 he’d be pushing out are Hartung, Clarke or Dumont. The difference is Levi thinks he’s a $400k player, he’s not. The club knew that, lucky for Levi Collingwood did not. He’ll probably finish his career at Port or Adelaide on a base rate

Mate he was runner up in the B&F.

A year later we paid the bloke who won it double what Levi was asking.
It was a good season in the final year of his second contract. His only other reasonable season with us was in the final year of his previous contract.

Anyway, it was Pickering in the end (sucking up to Collingwood) as our final offer wasn't far away from theirs.

Hindsight tells us we well and truly dodged a bullet.

It was $50K more and longer. That's it! He was a 24 year old runner up in the B&F, and he should have got it.

Sounds right. I'm relaxed that we didn't offer the extra, on principle, as our offer was already a substantial pay rise and he hadn't backed up one good season.

If Levi was a commodity we sold at exactly the right time
We've had a pretty good track record of trading players just before their bodies fail them and their quality of output diminishes.

Love Wellsy as much as the next bloke, but we traded him off at the right time, same with Lindsay.

I think we traded both too late. We got a second rounder for Wells and delisted Thomas.

Greenwood seen the captain ( Swallow ) Zeibell and Cunnington were competing against him as an inside mid..........as of today Swallow is gone, Zeibell to the forward and Cunnington is the genuine inside mid there now.
There's a spot for him, today.

Yep, that's another angle that led to him making his decision once the club wouldn't pony up.

It wasn’t about the money with a greenwood, he wanted a longer contract and we offered him a one year deal. We upgraded that to a two year deal with a heap of performance triggers. Collingwood came with a 3 year deal on similar money and off he went.
