So ... if I'm listening properly he chose us as a destination. Brilliant.

North recruit Jed Anderson says a fresh start will provide opportunity and a chance to create his own success.

Joining his teammates in Utah for a gruelling intitiation at a new club, Anderson explained his decision to become a Kangaroo.

“I just went to Hawthorn and my manager and just requested that I wanted to look for more opportunity to play senior football,” he told NMFC.com.au.

“There were a few clubs interested.

“I spoke to North and liked what they said, their facilities and it suited me and my partner and our two little kids.”

Anderson said he was confident the Kangaroos were in a place to challenge for a premiership in 2016.

“North’s in a really good position, played in the last two prelim(inary finals) in the past two years,” Anderson said.

Being part of a squad that’s been one of the most dominant in recent times has given Anderson an insight into what it takes to win, but he’s yet to personally taste premiership glory.

“I’m hoping to go one step further and make my own success, just like Hawthorn did. Hopefully I can do that at North Melbourne.

“I’m happy to be at new club, getting to know the boys and hopefully playing many games with them."

Traveling with a select group of players at the Kangaroos’ pre-season training camp in Park City, Utah, Anderson said he was already overwhelmed by the welcome he had received

“It’s been really good, the boys have been really comforting,” Anderson said.

“The flight was pretty long, but now we’re here, we’re getting settled and pretty much all good to go.”

The 21-year-old has yet to take part in Utah-like training at altitude, and said the two weeks in America would no doubt improve his fitness.

“I want to come back to Melbourne, and push harder and be more aerobically fitter,” he said.

“It’s my first time doing this high altitude stuff, looking forward to it and looking forward to getting stuck in to the season.”

I know people like to get excited about new players, but basing character judgments off an interview? It's not like he's going to say, "the boys are a tight knit group so they've made it pretty hard for me coming from outside... after 2 prelims with an old list I don't really see us pushing for a gf next year, we'll have to do a bit of a rebuild..."

"Everyone has been just awful. I'm fairly sure Shaun Atley took a shit in my bed the first night. If I'm being honest I'm really regretting leaving Hawthorn."

It's kinda funny, that Heath is asking if he has done anything like this before (altitude training) and of course this is the cutting edge stuff which he is really looking forward to.

The only trouble is that where he's from they've been winning flags instead of worrying about altitude. ;)
