I've always wanted to persist with him but now I don't even know what sort of player he is. Is he a small forward, half forward or midfielder. I have absolutely no idea. He showed in the second half he can get 10 possessions but I'm just not seeing anything anymore with him. He always looks like he doesn't have the instincts for the game - he's just so slow to react to everything.

I wonder if he would actually be a better defender so he can see the ball coming in - he doesn't seem like a forward at all.

I really hope he turns it around but he's not showing anywhere near enough

Seems to have all the tools, but keeps playing like a potato. Keeps this up and I would say we have a dud to throw in the scrap heap.

I'm actually disapointed because if he can get up and going he is exactly the type of player we need.
What are these qualities? I don't notice one thing about him that is any good.
- Slow
- No confidence
- No skills
- Injury prone
- Fumbles

3 of those 5 will never get better.

Was worth a shot when we went for him.

It had the scent of desperation at the time as we were unable to attract someone of quality and now its a case of just seeing him though to the end.

Not the first time we have been sold candy by the Hawks - need to ensure its the last time though.

I don't think he is slow, but he is so devoid of confidence that he isn't attacking the contest. Everyone looks slow when they hesitate.

When he has shown glimpses he has attacked the contest and shown some pace.

But at the moment is an absolute turnip in the field, so I am not going to try and defend the indefensible.

A message to everyone saying to drop this kid to the vfl.....

honestly what is wrong with you people..... for you all to be calling for Jed to be dropped to the vfl side is nothing short of disgusting and embarrassing.... how in your right mind do you think the vfl side would even want him. Take a good hard look at yourself before posting

I've never in his games at the club thought he was fast. Routinely trailing his man (who is usually a defender) to the contest, when out in space would get caught by a turtle.

Just shy of a year ago to the day, after the Footscray loss I posted this:

One of the worst games to watch since the Gold Coast loss last year.

Thoughts:

- Not his fault because he's a young player and hopefully he improves, but Jed Anderson isn't AFL standard at the moment. He's hard (kinda), but it comes across cheap shotish, panics with the ball and not good enough with his disposal. Looks like he should be a natural footballer, but isn't. Hopefully he can improve, as I say. A poor man's Garner.
Unfortunately, he has not improved at all. Undoubtedly injury has stopped him playing the seniors games we would have liked to this point, but has never ever looked likely.

I think he's an inside mid, FYI.

By golly the NMFC constituency is beyond desperate for one of their young people to break out and take the league by storm.

Can't think of a team that has had a drought for a star player for so long - if you consider boomer originated in the mid 90s

We wanted this guy to be good pretty badly but his ceiling is probably a 15-17 touch 6/10 player.
If we're happy with that then persist

Not writing him off yet.
Nor am I. Live at the game I had him destined for the knackery at halftime, a plan corroborated as bang on during my phonecall with scottywiper as we dissected events hither to.

Watching the replay and seeing how much better he was in the second half changed my opinion though.

Definitely hot writing him off.............yet.

I've had him towed to the insurance yard and organised a new model.

Written. Off.

Got home at half time and heard he hadn't touched the ball but in the second half he did a lot more and didn't get a single break from the umps as he got grabbed around the head and interfered with in marking contests.

Didn't mean to press reply anyway ...

So from what i saw he wasn't that bad. But the first half was where we got beaten and that's where he went missing.

I see the board has him in the Gibbo/Atley/Goldstein pen at the moment tho.

How do we expect him to get disposals when it doesn't come in our forward half. I look at all of the forwards and they all had shit disposal games.

There is no one targeting him when we do go inside 50 with a targeted kick (probably one 6 times the whole match)

Can't be down on him too much.

He shouldn't of been selected for Jmac though, why get a forward/mid in for a HB/Winger after had already replaced EVW with Mountford!

I think we are trying to lose, that was just taken to far - disaster. Next time get more appropriate emergencies for the game please.
