He is still only 23
Why isnt he getting a game as a crumbing forward who can kick mark and tackle ?
Because there are others who are showing more at VFL level.

Put it this way. The match committee saw fit to play a first year rookie at half forward on the weekend instead of Jed. Then they debuted a first year waif on the wing when Tarrant was a late out .

He's a long way back.

VFL is tough gig to shine in and stay up for.
The kids got skills I would have thought a good long run and see what he can do
I have watched him a couple of times in the VFL and was impressed with his work rate, but he appears to have no offensive point of difference in comparison to any other run of the mill VFL player. He doesn't seem to be able to manufacture anything score wise.

By way of comparison, Lindsay Thomas is creaming him in the VFL.

I expect we will delist Jed.

For the record, because I hate when this is reported as fact, with the picks we got back we paid #40 for Jed.

Can't deny it, Burton would have been nice though.
Didn't we basically end up with Anderson, McKay & Clarke for 15, 55 & Bastinac after these picks had done the rounds?

We can put a line through Anderson, but the same would apply to Bastinac.

Hawthorn didn't use the 55 pick for anyone.

The jury is still well and truly out on this trade.

And Hibberd because we didn't have a second rounder? Maybe? Can't remember exactly but we got #38 and #40 back for #15 + Jed. Then with all the academy pick consolidation they wound up being early #30s picks.

I think Hibberd was the 2nd rounder we already had. We didn't trade that pick.
Quick reply beat my edit. We got Jed, #38 and #40 for #15 and #54.

Jed, Clarke and Hibberd. Basti got us back into first round for McKay, maybe we lost a second rounder there.

Either way, not a bad trade period overall.

Almost certain the picks for McKay, Clarke and Hibberd came back to us via the Bastinac-Anderson trades as a whole.
Hibberd was already our pick.

Hawthorn ---> Anderson, 38 & 40
North ---> 15 & 55

North ---> Bastinac, 38, 40 & pick 50 (2016)
Brisbane ---> 17 & 26

In: Anderson, McKay, Clarke
Out: Bastinac, Burton (Haw), Matheison (Bris), Kale Kirby (Coll, 2016) 2015 pick 40 (Bris) used in Tom Bell trade, 2015 pick 55 not used by Hawthorn.

#28 came to us directly from Collingwood mate, it was fairly complicated with the Aish and Bastinac trades.

Think about it this way - if #15 was our first round then round 2 pick was going to be circa #33 before bidding etc.

Delist!!! What a waste of Pick 15 -
oh here we go again, some people just cannot see ( or choose not to) the trees from the forest.

just think we would've had Burton I know who I'd prefer.
you dont rate clarke? we got him with the pick that came back from the lions and we also got back into the first round and scored Mckay.

personally i dont think Jed will make it but that complex trade was never just about jed.

you could also argue we could have taken josh dunkley who i rate above burton anyway, or even david cunningham who is showing heaps for carlton.

where it may have been an issue was if gresham was still available at 17 however he wasnt because st k took him the pick before burton went.

but nah just keep telling yourself we took jed at 15!

Don't give up on him yet. Had a shoulder operation in the off-season.
Just needs a clean run at it.

I refuse to believe he's not up to it. He looked like he belonged out there in 2013 as a teenager.
Was used as a sub in the finals and was unlucky not to be in the premiership side.
